video AJs Backyard Pepper Porn Video 10-07-09

Awesome work AJ, your plants are lookin' crazy and you have a cool accent! I envy your climate and how awesome it is for growing chilies/peppers, compared to me down here in the ass end of the world! I have always wanted to take a holiday to the southern states of the USA, Texas in particular!

Man AJ awesome you should make a complete cultivation book i would definately buy it.

I second that. Add in some science/engineering perspective into it and I'm sure it could sell well.

thanks all for the compliments...like I have said before, if any of you are ever in my area and you don't drop by for a visit, I will definitely be offended...you all are welcome here any time...

AJ, I have collected a bunch of 5 gallon pots for next year. I used 3 gallon this year and the plants didn't seem to get as nice as they could have.

How much difference do you think it will make?

I can't really say the difference since I have been growing in 5 gallon containers for several years now...I actually started with 5 gallon buckets I got from Whataburger that dill pickles came in and if I could get enough 5 gallon buckets for all my plants, this is definitely what I would grow in...

I think one reason the plants are doing quite well is the roots are growing out of the bottom holes in the containers into the ground so what I am doing when I water/fertilize is just channeling the water/nutrients directly to the roots IMO...once the roots start growing out of the containers, I do NOT move any of them until the end of the season...

I will probably try a few 7 and 10 gallon containers this coming season...I know the large chinense plants are almost totally rootbound now and really think the roots growing out of the pots into the ground is what is making them survive and produce...

I have been debating adding a transplant to my routine and going to a 2 or 3 gallon from 3" containers instead of going straight from 3" to 5 gallon, but I probably won't because when you are transplanting 300+ plants, that gets to be "busy" work IMO...

If I can keep them growing like they are currently, I will be happy...

It has been a very good year so far for me and please all pray and hope I don't get early frost/freeze...

Thanks AJ. What I'm thinking of doing maybe is some 5 gallon buckets, and also doing what a friend suggested to me; putting up some raised areas that are two stacked and pegged 2 x 12's in a 24" to a side, square. He did that with tomatoes and the plants were awesome. He filled his with a potting soil mix with lots of vermiculite in it and fed them with a 20-20-20 nutrient until they were huge. Then he switched to a "flowering" type nutrient and they produced maters like crazy.

I wonder if this would work well for peppers?

after the plants get established, I can't see the harm in top dressing with some balanced ferts...actually, I am in favor of it although some of the members here don't fertilize much...

of all the plants I am growing this year, I am most impressed with the Scorpions...most of them are over 6' tall already with about 6 weeks growth time left...I am looking forward to next year when I can have a lot more plants and have the time to tend them like I want/need to...

Up until this thread, I was wondering what I was going to do with so many plants that I have growing (about 20 plants).... and now I feel like I don't have enough :)

Thanks very much for sharing.
