AJ, your yard and efforts make me want to cry and forget about my attempts to grow chillies.

It is an outstanding set-up. Just curious how are your winter temps? and will they effect your plants much?
 
Wow and I thought the 4 lbs from my much smaller plants where good! Hopefully I will get a much earlier start next year.
 
That is great stuff AJ! Congrats on another monster harvest. Your video is giving me visions of the 2010 season, although on a much smaller scale.


How are those mariachi hybrids? I am thinking about growing those.

then you must have some good soil in your house..:) the only thing that grows well in my house is grass!! i have planted one tabasco pepper plant to the ground and i have problems of curling /cupping leaves plus everything is dropping off now!

so to overwinter you cut off those roots and the top and move them to indoors ?

during overwintering does the plant continue to grow ?

When you grow so many peppers outdoors what do you do to prevent parasites or plant diseases? Do you spray with any organic material like neem oil etc?

there is about 6" of good topsoil on my property then rocks and caliche clay...the topsoil was brought in when they built the house...needless to say that is why I don't plant in the ground or prepare an inground bed

I will just move the plants indoors after they have been extremely cut back and wait until spring to trim roots and replant into 5 or 7 gallon containers...

I won't give them any special attention...just move them indoors to keep them from freezing and not let the soil dry out too much...this will be my first years attempt at doing this so I am on a steep learning curve...

I generally don't have any issues with disease or pests once the plants are outdoors except for a few spotty occurances of them damned aphids...then I try and stay organic with neem, safer soap, pyrethrins, but if they don't work, I resort to a rotenone/pyrethrin mixture that knocks the hell out of them...
