Very nice clusters!!!!!! So jealous over here. I'm barely pulling a box at a time, but I'll have too many in October because they're loading up now, finally!

Great looking Jay's Reds!!!! Primos look spot on. I didn't grow a primo this year. . But I think I will again next year. Awesome stuff!

Thanks Adam, I have been really fortunate to have good weather this year.

The JRGS are from your seeds we traded my Red CPR seeds for last year. There are some seriously gnarly pods on those two plants!

The Primos are from that super gnarly pod from last year:

That plant, I got the seeds from Primos Peppers.

Hope your grow continues to improve, and by the way, your Cinders are some of the largest and most productive plants I have.

Getting ready for work this morning, about 5:15, I noticed the motion sensor light (5000K LED) on the back porch was on.

Naturally, I looked out to see if someone was in the yard.

No-one was, but I noticed that the light really lit up some of the pods in the raised bed; notably, the lighter colored pods of the caramel varieties:

The plant to the left is Big Caramel Mama, on the right is Adam's Cinder.

The picture does not show how many pods there actually are, maybe ~60%.

Thank you very much!!! Awesome! I'm curious to see which has a better flavor. And of course, heat. But I mainly choose my plants by the way they grow and the color. That's about it. I had one plant in F1 that had the shape you see today (I know it gives a lot of different phenos, but the Moruga-looking shape is what I mean). That's the plant I isolated and the only time I saved seeds based on pod shape. But I'm glad to hear that multiple people are getting great plant loads from it!!!

Thank you again for growing this. :woohoo:

Adam's Cinder vs. Big Caramel Mama, taste test.

The contenders; Cinder on left, BCM on right.

The BCM is much lighter, almost the color of actual caramel candy, the Cinder is a deep caramel, almost rust colored.

Both have decent placenta and both have droplets of oil (although my pics do not clearly show it).

I only do a small piece when tasting, trying to get the flavor without overwhelming heat, so I cut about a 1/2 inch off the tip of the larger half of each pod.

First, the BCM.

As Chinense go, the flavor was extremely mild, almost non-existent, very slightly floral, quite pleasant.

Heat-wise; instant back-of-throat burn, unpleasant, quite sharp, almost painful, but subsided in about a minute, tongue burn slowly built, which was not bad at all and lasted about ten minutes.

Next, the Cinder.

Flavor; I immediately thought of celery, and a hint of grassiness, no floral or fruity flavor. Very nice for a Chinense.

Heat-wise; Tongue burn was quick to develop,  built for several minutes and was fairly intense, also lasting about ten minutes, no back-of-throat burn to speak of, just a slight tingling .

One thing I like about both is neither pod caused lip burn.

I will do another tasting tomorrow, reversing the order to balance the influence of one pod over the other, and post my thoughts.

Terrific comparison, Al! I haven't tried the F3 but for me, the F2 was all throat and gut. It's interesting how the capcsicinoids affect different people in different ways. Celery and grassy, I like that. I'm glad you're going to do a reverse comparison. That's a great idea!

Fantastic write-up! I've read it multiple times. Lol. Great job!!

Just did the the second taste test.

This time, the Cinder actually had a bit of sweetness to the taste, quite nice flavor.

Same burn; all in the mouth, not too bad, lasting about ten minutes.

The BCM had somewhat lesser back-of-throat burn this time, but still present, mouth burn somewhat stronger than the Cinder, also lasting about ten minutes. Flavor pretty much non-existent.

Overall, I would say the BCM is a little hotter and has more aggressive burn, but no flavor to speak of. The Cinder has a great flavor, not typical of what I expect from Chinense.

Between the two, I would choose the Cinder because of the flavor, and I do not like the throat burn of the BCM.

Great review! You covered all points and even did a reverse review. I thought they'd be close to the same, but I'm so happy you like the flavor of the Cinder over the BCM. The heat, yeah it's important, but if there's no flavor, who's gonna use it?? Lol

Thank you very much for this comparison. I might have to get a box to PeterS to get his take also. He's done F1 and F2. When I get extra cash, I'll probably do that.

Thanks again, Al! Your garden is pretty darn amazing and great color on the chocolate BBG...almost caramel.

You are absolutely killin' it this year, Al! I'd like to get some of those peachy seeds from you, if I could.

Nice to see your Jays Red look on point and not FAT like the pod the seeds care from. Lol
