Amazon Echo vs Google Home

I'm thinking of getting one for my wife for the kitchen - listen to music, weather, ask questions (not home lights, temp control stuff, etc).
 
Opinions on one versus the other?
 
Do you have to say "Alexis" or "OK Google"  before each command or will they respond to several questions/commands once you activate with the opening phrase?
