Antonio's growlog 2010..

Hello Pepperheads, and welcome to my 2010 growlog. I have grown the occasional chilli plant in
the past, this year it has become an obsession - the latest count is around 90 plants!!
The growroom is 1x2m, well lit with a mix of fluorescent tubes, fluorescent bulbs and HPS, the
temperature seems to be stable at around 28-30c with the lights on, and drops to 18-20c during
the dark period.

A mains fan brings fresh air into the growroom, and 2 solar powered computer fans give the plants
windy conditions during the day for stem strengthening. I am also considering brewing some wine for
added co2..

This is what I am growing, some of the plants will be moving into the greenhouse, others will fill
available windowspace, some will be culled, and some will be given to friends, and some will remain
under lights. I started late so it might not work out as planned, time will tell.

Very nice dude.
Lemme see your Prairie Fire; I love those things.

No problem bro, the seeds were planted less than 4 weeks ago, so they are not very big, they
certainly are handsome, compact looking plants, very regular in size and form.

Niiiiiiiiiice! :)

Thanks Aji,

Your support is appreciated, I am sometimes tempted to pull the plug and cut my losses, given the late start this year, and the lack of sunshine around here.

What is that black thing they are growing in?

Tony

It is a tray that holds the pots together, underneath is another tray holding an absorbant mat. seems to be a good solution for little seedlings.

Nearly 2 weeks have passed since the last update, here are some recent photo's

African devil, the second fastest growing variety from the ones I started from seed, the African Devils
seem to love strong light.

Tepin, definately one of my favourites, I will be snipping the growing tips on the Tepins to encourage bushiness, hoping for a good crop in 2011 from these.

Thanks for all the nice comments and encouragement guys.

Below is one of the Bhut Jolokias, 4 weeks after breaking through the soil

Two weeks back I seperated the Red Habs, one on a south facing windowsill, and this one has stayed in the growroom. they are both now putting out buds, however to my surprise, the one in the growroom is bigger, bushier, and has more buds growing.

How old is that Rocoto? All of you're plantrs look nice and healthy Ant, keep up the good work and keep those pics coming.

Thanks jas, much of the credit for the healthy plants goes to those sharing their experiences on the forums, all I do is switch the lights on and off, and throw some water at them occasionally.

The Rocoto broke through the soil 3 1/2 weeks old, the biggest leaf is 2"/5cm wide. I was expecting a tall, gangly plant, but so far the internodes are short and the stem is thick.

Here are some of my plants I bought as seedlings 6 weeks ago from B&Q, the English equivelent of Home Depot in the US.

First up is a comparison between 2 Habanero plants, the one on the left has been growing under lights, the one on the right has been sitting on a windowsill for 3 weeks, before going on the windowsill the two plants were identical.

The Hab that was grown under lights is flowering profusely..
