So this time last year i was pulled over for what he believed i was on drugs. The case was dropped as i was found not guilty. Will this report show up on a background check?

I got the job at UPS as long as this comes back ok. Man im nervous on this

If you were found not guilty that should be in your favor then, but I do second Fremp's advice and suggest you consult with a lawyer just to be on the safe side.

Yes.
But as it was dropped, and if you were honest about it in your interview, no problem.

Large corps, where the interviewer isn't in the loop---I.E. he/she just gets a go/no go from the HR dept instead of reading the report personally, is better, IMHO.

Usually, they only ask if you were convicted of a crime, but increasingly, they ask if you were ever arrested or charged.

Shouldn't make much of a difference, as that includes 1 in 10 of every American---arrested or in jail currently.

Don't get antsy, as the check can take up to 6 weeks---depending.

Did you have to answer any questions pertaining to any prior arrests on your application? If the answer is yes and you put on the application that you had not been arrested, then you falsified your app. THAT could bite you.

Congrats on getting the job Peppas... Background check should go smoothly if you have nothing to worry about... With the case being dropped i wouldn't worry about...

I went through this really intense week long job interview for a company in PA one time... Apparently (so they say) they now know more about me than Any government in the world foreign and domestic.

They knew about every traffic ticket I'd ever received, overdue library book fees (even from my private college), flew out and interviewed lots of my family and friends. Knew my grades, medical history, and developed a psychological profile... It was really creepy having a folder out there this is a summation of everything that ever happened to me from birth till that point.

For a week, they ran a group of us through various scenarios, with a team of psychologists watching us (one each, and they took turns on a rotating basis as to whom they watch), as well as a group watching us from the organization (same setup).

They gave us a task, gave us /most/ of the tools we needed, took stuff away through "accidents"... Basically set us up to fail, and watch how we performed.

At the end, they give you a copy of their conclusions about you. That part was cool...

The part that dealt with the kidnapping and dismemberment of a teammate was a bit weird.

Needless to say, I went another route *chuckle*, but by my choice, not theirs.

Believe it or not, UPS runs a complete background check as if you were applyingfor a sensitive security job because you will be handling "mail". I know a lot about background checks. There are several levels of checks but here is what you need to know:

"All applications are screened through an electronic database which checks for criminal convictions on both state and federal levels. The background screen includes felony convictions for crimes such as theft, drug trafficking and crimes of violence, and is done to exclude candidates who may present a risk of theft or violence in the workplace. While criminal background checks play a large part in the hiring process, minor convictions on misdemeanor charges such as unpaid parking tickets may be excluded from consideration."

The key verbage here is "criminal convictions" of which you have none. You wish to be a driver if I remember right. They will do another check onyou should you make it that far and they will scrutinize your driving record with a fine toothed comb. There is where the unpaid parking tickets will be a speed bump...

And a cop can pull you over for anything. Proving the suspicion is on him. There may be a record at the local cop shop of the stop, but I am sure that most cops who deal in suspicion do not want those false stops on their record beyond the local PD. Makes 'em look like the thugs they are.

Good job getting hired. Now get my packages here on time!

I got a job working for a school district and they did a few different background checks including an FBI background check. I was also driving one of their trucks. I have a nasty background record and I got hired. If they ask about it just tell them that you will get them a print out from the state of your innocence if they would like. You should be fine though.

If you were arrested, there is an arrest on your record, but if no conviction resulted, the arrest is not disclosed to a non-law enforcement employer. So no conviction will turn up.

People are never explicit...if you got pulled over, you may not have been arrested. If you were arrested and the case was dropped, no conviction. If you plead guilty to something lesser than the original charge, still convicted.

More details are needed to truly to answer the question.

FYI OP. If you want to know what is on your record, go to the local cop shop and request a copy of your history. Every state calls it differnt things, Like in MA, CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) Rhode Island has BCI (Bureau of Criminal Investigation), for example.

You may have to submit to a state agency as RI and MA demand. It is usually a 10 day turn around period. Know what a SASBE is? Ha!

Again, you got hired. That's half the battle. Good luck!

Im not that worried. It should turn out fine.

Yes i was formally arrested. But judge dismissed it due to lack of evidence

Good lord. I have a top secret clearance in my federal law enforcement job and didn't have to go through 1/4 of that.

Where I work background checks come back based on a point system. 1 felony conviction could be enough points for you to come back negative but 3 or 4 misdemeanors may not or the other way around. It all depends on what they are looking for. In a retail setting theft is weighed more heavily than a violent act. If working with children or the elderly they will look more towards violence than theft. All in all the key word is conviction. I have had to walk many good people out the door due to a failed background check. (it is more expensive to do a background check than the initial cost of hiring, so we hire first then run checks) Not a single one of them was because they were ACCUSED of a crime. It all is based on convictions
