Are Aphids really this prevalent? How concerned should I be if I haven't seen any yet? Or, do they typically arrive once planted outside?

You all have me obsessively and compulsively checking my plants everyday, sometimes twice a day.

I've been having aphid nightmares, and some have come true:(

For me aphids are only a problem with indoor plants. Once they are outdoors there seems to be enough natural predators to take care of them

right over my head... when pepperfreak said aphids, I read lady bugs...

Cool, I only have a little over a month to go..........

looks like my nagas have another friend...may be no friend to the lady bugs, but still a friend and hunter of the leaves....a little wolf spider has taken up residence in my grow box....I assume he eats aphids too..

Aphids are back....

Well, the aphids are back and I have not treated with anything in a long time....time to get the lady bug gang bang going...off to my local nursery...the LBs have a feast awaiting them...
