It is Violet bordering on reddish tinge.
Surprisingly Aussie wine I got is not full bodied and is ver discreetly sweet at the end.

No, you didn't tell us the brand or type. I tend to like Jacob's Creek and Yellow Tail from Aussie. Haven't tried many others, but so far haven't really cared for the others I've tried.
Given that Aussie wines are just like wines anywhere, in that where a wine is from has no say in whether it will be full-bodied or not, why were you surprised?
