soil Attention Wanting to mix up a Super Soil..

Well I want to Mix up a "Super Soil", one that once I transplant into their final home will support overall growth and flower through out the season. also what online grow shops are good to order from. need to get me a few lights and trays...

I really like Fox farm what are some of you pros using out there?

Fox farm Waarrior mix was ok for starting plants but the Ocean Forest(whatever) seemed to run out of gas halfway through the season for me.
Won't buy either again, expensive and not better than my home made stuff.

Hey man,I would suggest reading the pinned thread above your post.It is filled with good info!I made my own potting soil last year and saved major money doing so.It also allowed me to put only the stuff I wanted in there.I used peat moss, compost, manure, perlite, lime, bone meal, blood meal, and a myccorhizae innoculant. My results with this organic mix were far better than I had ever had using chemical ferts. This year I am trying some coco coir as a medium. Its pretty cheap and alot more earth friendly than using peat.

I used just fox farms ocean forest soil last year, I had a good year with it. This year I am using a coco coir and ocean forest mix for seedlings. Ocean forest alone doesn't seem to absorb water as much as I would like

I'm in the same boat, been pouring over LGHTs post and trying to decide what I want to use. I don't want to buy the premade, just too much denero.

Pro Mix is great stuff, IF you can find it. But, you can make your soil just as good, or BETTER, than Pro Mix, or Fox Farm. There are basic mixtures, and you can go from there. Just experiment and see what works best for you. It may take awhile, but you'll find what works best and grow some AWESOME plants!

Agreed home made stuff can be pretty good and a lot cheaper than the commercial medium. Keep it basic though, no need to get crazy--you'll end up spending more. Start off with a decent grade peat, it should make up at least 50% of the total mass. Then add compost, maybe some aged manure and perlite to keep it loose. Notice I didn't have any soil in it. Soil tends to become compacted, you want something that is light and airy. Then a little bit of bone/blood meal and maybe a touch of lime. Looks like the same thing Bhut camp makes. Must be good stuff then.

Great! Thanks for chiming in. I want to make my own just want to know my bases like coco coir and the compost... i should have been clearer but i didn't necessarily want to use light warrior happy frog and ocean forest as my main. I want to use a bag mixed i. With my bases like y'all have recommended. I just know with those soils if used mixed and not so concentrated i can get a lot of beneficial microbes with out burning young plants... I'm using a Kitty pool to mix....

I've had a hard time finding a local shop to purchase good quality products from.. any body got some good ideas local and online? I'm going to order a t5 fixture this week and some tray and jiffy plugs... again i know i shouldn't post a topic I'm sure is already on here but I'm back tracking and there is 50 or 60 pages per section and I'm trying to read as many post as possible. But ill got read the pinned soil thread

Thanks again

I plant in Ga red clay ,but ,for a starter mix I use any ol cheap ass seed starter mix (not soil)and just throw in a lil Mychorrizae ,$9 a bottle. I dont fertilize till they hit the garden ,Cause I dont want em to get too big before plant out
