artwork Australian Resources for starting a food business?

I want to start a hobby online business selling Chilli powders. Very small scale to start with. The pinned post about resources looks like everything I need, just for another country. I tried to search for the info on google but I'm hoping somone has a good link which isn't legal ultracomplex mumbojumbo.
I was going to do the website and labels myself, as well as everything else.

You should be able to find a fair bit of info from the health department of your state. Here in QLD, Queensland Health has a lot on their website.

Edit: (In QLD) it looks like you don't need any licences related to food if you're just doing powders, raw spices etc. You should only need an ABN (online application) and optionally some insurance.

Once you go down the path of sauce making or 'significantly altering the original produce' then you'll need food business licence(s), food safety processing accreditation and possibly others.

Like Sci said, eBay is the go if you're starting off - don't need to worry about selling it in shops or maintaining your own ecommerce site. Also, if it's small scale, you wouldn't even need to bother with an ABN but that's up to you.

Good luck, hope to see some of your powders around soon.

If it is just powdered chilli with nothing else in it I'm not sure if you need a nutritional panel or not but you would need to comply with the ANZ Food Standards.

In WA sauces just need to be made in a registered commecial kitchen. The nutritional panel can be generated free of charge by listing your ingredients, the amounts and serving sizes etc on the

http://www.foodstand...anelcalculator/ site.

A lot of the other info needed can be found at http://www.foodstandards.gov.au/foodstandards/foodsafetystandardsaustraliaonly/
