Avon Barksdale's 2011

Avon, my man, didn't read the text, but those are some excellent pictures! you definitely need a better cam, though.

Yellow habaneros?

Different yellow habanero with much different looking pods

Early jalapeño, this plant is pretty short, maybe a foot tall. I had no idea it had all these pods until I looked at it today, a pleasant surprise.

Supposed to be Fresno, but it has giant, poblano sized pods

Supposed to be Super Chile, but the pods hang down, are curved, and the plant is not compact. From the local nursery. They need to find some suppliers that know/care what they're doing.

Awesome plants buddy. Sucks that the nursery plants are wrong. You would think that you could trust them but I guess not.

Thanks, a few of the pictures come out really well though, so I think the problem is my lack of knowledge on how to use it more than anything. Plus every time I get some time and try to take pics the sun runs away and hides and clouds instantly form everywhere. :banghead: I'll do some reading and try to figure it out so I can take better pictures next time.

Thanks. Yeah I bought 2 Super Chiles there, both the same. Started out growing very well but have slowed down a lot and now exhibiting untrue traits. Also bought a "bhut jolokia" there that is the Caribbean Red pods in the harvest pic. I probably bought only about 6 pepper plants there, and at least 3 of them aren't growing true. I'm going to go in there soon and talk to them about their plants.

Gorgeous plants. I'm definitely trying some Black Kow in Pro-Mix next year. That "Super Chile" at the bottom of Post 22 is maybe a Serrano?

Nice peppers Avon. The seed savers exchange has aji cryistal and they say citrus flavor is
best when inmature. I will be growing some next year.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, it does look like a serrano. Also had some corking on one of the pods. Not sure if Super Chiles or their parents exhibit corking but I've had serranos that do. I'll give it a closer look and see if I can determine if it's annum or frutescens, and try a pod to see what the flavor is like.

Nice garden! Lots of beautiful pods even if they are not all what you expected. That lemon tree looks really cool.

Thanks, it had some small lemons on it in Spring but they never grew past the size of a pequin pod, and fell off, this time they're growing and have gotten about 2x the size as the fruits last time so I'm hoping they'll stick. :D The flowers are pretty cool too and have a really nice smell to them too.

Plants are looking real good! Nice poddage too!

Thanks, I've had a few hiccups but things are moving along nicely now. I seem to have gotten the mites under control (fingers crossed), haven't seen any new damage in a couple weeks. The ones they hit are still yellow and stunted from their poison though.

Thanks. I tried one immature pod, I wasn't really getting the citrus flavor. Didn't like the flavor a whole lot but it might have been a little too immature. It got knocked off the plant so I went ahead and tried it. I'll try another green pod and the big red one in the harvest picture and see how they taste.

Neem and malathion. I prefer not to use stuff like malathion but those bastards are hard to get a handle on and it seemed like the neem was just keeping them in check. Only used the malathion on about 5 or 6 plants I quarunteed from the rest. I also transported some wheel bugs I found to the quarunteed plants, maybe that helped. :D
