due to illness and surgery im behind schedule. but happy to say ive got a bunch of plants rolling now and more on the way! ive got a dozen or so I over wintered that will give me a head start in the spring.

i went to check on my garden after the remnants of the hurricane came through from the gulf. no damage but found a few surprises. my 5 reaper plants went crazy during the week.
the wild variation in the phenotype on these reapers is shocking. the plants all came from the same pods seeds. which was the traditional shape.
then there's this little guy. lol i got lucky with one correct phenotype on this peter pepper.

That Red Rocoto plant looks pretty happy
with the cooler weather, Scott! Nice pods.

Regarding phenotype, I am becoming convinced
weather has a huge amount to do with it. The pods
that set in our hotter weather are usually more true
to form than the Fall pods, forming in cooler weather
and all over the place shape-wise. Devv's Papa Dreadie
Red was a good example.

im sure trying to encourage these plants to a big finish! temps just dropped to 41, but should be warming back up. so if im lucky maybe ill get another good week or two.

did you save seeds from those? or is that something I can buy online? im up for trying any types you recommend.

ill gladly try to grow those types. my family consumes a lot of tomato's. lol ill look for the siletz seeds. my gf loved those all season.PaulG said:
