Big Props to THP, I might start drinking beer again!!
Â
I haven't drank beer in years unless it's a few Coronas here and there, so when ya'll post about India Pale Ale I'm lost and really didn't give a shit to research but it all changed tonight.Â
Â
This actually happened from the "Secret Satan" swap, I wanted to send a beer from here as a bonus. I went to the best liquor store I buy wine supplies from and asked the young guy stocking the cooler what's the best craft beer from around here. I thought he would say something from Baton Rouge or New Orleans but he pointed me to a pallet of beer made 4 miles from me and said "this is the best beer in the store".Â
Â
Secret Satan was naughty because it didn't fit so I'm doing a taste test. And it's actually good, so different but good. I thought I was drinking juniper berries.Â
Â
The bad news is it went down too fast, I don't have anything to compare it too and it's got that addictive taste that makes you want more. Here's the description from the website.
Welcome to the future. Our collective human consciousness, or Ghost in the Machine, has gained a tolerance for hops beyond what mankind has ever known before. This double India Pale Ale is the necessary outcome. Brewed with obscene quantities of hand-selected Citra hops from our favorite farm in Yakima Valley, WA.Â

I need to visit the Taproom, I grew up in Broussard and know most of the people, I'm there(4 miles away) every week. Most of my relatives live there and my cousin is the Mayor and other family members have been Mayor. Why didn't I hear about this on news or radio. WTF?
I'm pissed I'm out of those beers.
Â
Before that I was racking and tasting wine I made, this is 3/4 cranberry and 1/4 concord grape with a few ounces of Jim Beam to bring an oak flavor. This is 13% ABV says the hydrometer!!! It's semi sweet and has a port flavor. Beam and Coke on deck to clear out the taste buds., I don't think wine will go with those hop flavors.
