I started my seeds in early February and continued starting seeds until April...just couldn't stop starting new varieties...again. I always take the cheap route and use plain old Miracle-Gro potting soil. It has always worked for me. I also start my seeds in paper towels then transfer them straight to 4 inch pots (I thought they were 3 inch, but they're 4). I use a 125w CFL for lighting and I usually grow around 30 plants. Here's the beginning.

I had crappy soil before this pic and some of these are bare-root transplants. But I did lose one...Chocolate Primo. It just looked funky after transplant.

Here they were just before plant out. Pic taken on May 4...with the addition of a few new seedlings and maters.

Peppers planted out May 10.

Then I ran into the bugs. The flippin' bugs. Judging by the damage, I'm guessing broad mites.

But I soaped then neemed a couple times and things are looking up. I'll have to get a pic of what that plant (Goatsweed) looks like now. This is the latest pic with the addition of the nursery veggies.

That'll probably do it for now. Thanks for stopping by!

I tried once to give a local restaurant some fresh pods and they had all kinds of requirements. They wanted non-gmo, organic, and other stuff that I can't verify. I don't really know anything about making sauces, but there sure are a bunch of people here that I could ask. Lol. Isn't there a lot of red tape to go through when supplying sauces to consumers? It's a great idea and I'd love to try it. But it would be all new to me.

True, getting certified organic would take time and money, but fortunately the owners of the restaurants here have visited my garden and satisfied themselves that my stuff is grown organically regardless of certification or lack of it. Same deal with the sauces. In fact, I taught the head cook at the lunch counter how to make kimchi, and his pork belly and kimchi taco is one of their biggest sellers.

There's lots of info on sauce making right here on THP, and some great in-house authorities like Rocketman, Salsa Lady and others. You should check it out. :)

Nice handful of peach bhuts! Those are some tasty peppers right there.
You're not kidding! I've had these before, just a lot smaller. I pulled the first one off a couple days ago and ate that fresh. Not as hot as a red (at least that pod), but much tastier. I like all Bhuts, but Peach and Orange (BOC) seem to be the varieties I eat more. Thank you very much!

You're welcome! I'm glad to see you did so well with them in your garden this year.

Thank you, Sim! This has been a strange year. The last couple of years, things have been a lot bigger and more full by this time. I still have like 8 plants that haven't shown color. A lot of it has to do with the mite problem I had early on. But some plants are taking off right now, I just hope there's still time for things to finish. It's cold here, already. I'm still struggling to get some isolations to take. I had to break out the netting and try it that way. Fingers crossed! I need some isolated SB7J and CPR seeds. I'm thinking about just cloning the CPR.

Did you taste those SB7J's yet? they look awesome. BOC rocks too!
My plants are definitely slower this year...Locally I've heard alot of people say their gardens are just not right this year.
Thank you, Matt! I sure have tried the SB7J. I absolutely love them! Firm flesh, so they last a long time, terrific flavor, slightly floral, and WOW is it hot! Man, I was so dizzy after half a pod. Whew!

I haven't spoken to any gardeners locally, but I guess it's relieving to know that I'm not alone with the odd gardening year. Thanks again!
