I started my seeds in early February and continued starting seeds until April...just couldn't stop starting new varieties...again. I always take the cheap route and use plain old Miracle-Gro potting soil. It has always worked for me. I also start my seeds in paper towels then transfer them straight to 4 inch pots (I thought they were 3 inch, but they're 4). I use a 125w CFL for lighting and I usually grow around 30 plants. Here's the beginning.

I had crappy soil before this pic and some of these are bare-root transplants. But I did lose one...Chocolate Primo. It just looked funky after transplant.

Here they were just before plant out. Pic taken on May 4...with the addition of a few new seedlings and maters.

Peppers planted out May 10.

Then I ran into the bugs. The flippin' bugs. Judging by the damage, I'm guessing broad mites.

But I soaped then neemed a couple times and things are looking up. I'll have to get a pic of what that plant (Goatsweed) looks like now. This is the latest pic with the addition of the nursery veggies.

That'll probably do it for now. Thanks for stopping by!

if chacoense is anything like c. praetermissum, which looks pretty similar, it would dehydrate well whole. I dehydrated c. praetermissum whole and they dried out well. The naga Piri piri cross looks great man!
Thank you very much! I was hoping so. Trying to cut those up wouldnt be too much fun. Lol. The Naga x Peri is a lot like the Peri-Peri...they even fall right off of the stem the same way. They are very Frutescens-like. I have a few isolated seeds for next year. Im hoping theyre more Naga-like in F2. Thanks again!

It's one of my rules, grow it and you have to eat it! So it's gonna happen! ;)

And of course the sharing experience, but it seems I've alienated most of the peeps I work with when it come to peppers...LOL

Product looking great man! Hows the air layered cutting doing now?
Just an update on one air layering cutting I took. I originally clipped a branch off of a CPR and just stuck it in water. Then Rich suggested air layering...so I gave it a first try. I air layered the CPR and the Caramel 7 Pot Cinder. I checked the CPR after one week and the air layering soil fell off and I had to redo it. I didn't touch the Cinder until the following week. So it had two weeks of rooting attempt, while I interrupted the CPR. So the Cinder had a few more "roots" (actually, it was a white bulge) than the CPR. Well, the CPR died but the Cinder is still alive and growing. I just started giving it west-facing-window sun. It's been in a north-facing window with no direct sunlight.

I'm amazed that it worked! Thank you very much, Rich! I'll be experimenting more next year.

ALSO: The CPR "clone" that I clipped and put in just water is still alive and now it's growing little buds...WITH NO ROOTS!!! Weird. But I guess that means I didn't lose my CPR yet. So I'll leave it alone for now and maybe it'll take off at some point. Lol.

Thank you, Rich! You were right, air layering was easier than I thought. I appreciate all the help. I'm glad THIS plant was saved...just in case my isolated F3 seeds don't produce the color pods that I want. If I don't get caramel in F3, I'll have to isolate this plant again and lose a year. Lol. Cheers!

Hey, Adam, some great hauls this season, buddy!
Awesome pics of some great looking pods.

l agree with Indigo- the c. chacoense will dry just fine whole;
I used to slit my Goat's Weed just to speed up the process a bit.
Same with most long skinny pods, actually.

Congrats on a great season, my friend!
