Bhuter's 2017 Glog

Hello everybody!

This is my first glog and I know I'm really late with it. I've been growing superhots for a few years, but have never kept a record. So here it goes!

Big Black Mama x Caramel 7 Pot Madballz F2 (Mine)

I started my seeds in early February and continued starting seeds until April...just couldn't stop starting new varieties...again. I always take the cheap route and use plain old Miracle-Gro potting soil. It has always worked for me. I also start my seeds in paper towels then transfer them straight to 4 inch pots (I thought they were 3 inch, but they're 4). I use a 125w CFL for lighting and I usually grow around 30 plants. Here's the beginning.

I had crappy soil before this pic and some of these are bare-root transplants. But I did lose one...Chocolate Primo. It just looked funky after transplant.

Here they were just before plant out. Pic taken on May 4...with the addition of a few new seedlings and maters.

Peppers planted out May 10.

Then I ran into the bugs. The flippin' bugs. Judging by the damage, I'm guessing broad mites.

But I soaped then neemed a couple times and things are looking up. I'll have to get a pic of what that plant (Goatsweed) looks like now. This is the latest pic with the addition of the nursery veggies.

That'll probably do it for now. Thanks for stopping by!

Thank you very much, Scott! I actually used one of those pics for my background on my phone. Lol. I have some freshly dried Pimenta de Neyde seeds with your name on them. Let me know if there is anything else that you need.

Thank you very much, guys! Gonna trim them up and see what they do.

I'm not surprised your Peri peri cross was soft and pulpy when it ripened. That's a Frutascens trait that lends itself well to fermented hot sauces, like Tabasco for another example. Cheers!

Man, its too bad I know nothing about making sauces. I have two plants worth of those pods. Lol. Thank you, Rick! Theyre a nice pepper but do have more Frutescens traits than Chinense...even in the heat department. F2 will probably be nothing like it. Lol. Id like to know some of what you do about pepper processing...and food preparation! I need to do some reading. Thanks again!

It is gonna be around 31°F Wednesday night, so I decided to pull all pods that I had left. I thought I had about 4 plants still producing out in the garden. So I went to check and heres what I found.

Yeah, a few more than I thought. I got some very nice pods. Heres a handful of Pimenta de Neyde. There were a lot more, but they were overrippened.

And a bunch of great Aji Oro (Pubescens) from seeds I got from TGCM (Thanks!). Not bad for one little plant. Quite the producer.

Im going to look into jelly recipes and preps for the latter two varieties...which I know nothing about.

Wow that's a good haul for a first year Pubescens!..
What zone are you in again ?!.

if you can overwinter that plant, it should put out twice that many, maybe even more next year!
I haven't grown: Aji Oro Pubescens personally, but from the several Pubescens that i have grown here in zone 4a, they seem to do even better the 2nd year for those that are in short season climates.

Great last haul Adam what an impressive season you have had
Thank you very much, John! I havent really kept up with glogs this year, but I see that you have a PDN x SB7J orange. I find that amazing because that was one of the crosses I attempted this year. I had a hard time with my SB7J giving up pollen. I also tried to cross SB7J with CGN 21500, also a failure. I did have success with a PDN x 7 Pot Caramel. Ill try the F1 next season. Great looking stuff from you this year! I love that PDN cross. Thanks again!

Adam drop me a PM with your address and I will send you a Christmas Card with some PDN xSB7J Orange (seed from Chiliriot) which grew outside all season and a Peach variation which grew in the Polytunnel. Simmy showed me your SB7J.. very nice .. all the best for next season
