So far I'm disappointed making my favorite baby back ribs on the BGE. I had it down to a science on my Akorn Kamado grill taking 3 1/2 - 4 hours cooking time with it falling off the bone perfection that everyone loved. My second time now and after 6 hours its still not falling off the bone and the BGE uses more fuel than my Akorn did which is a big surprise to me. As of right now I miss my Akorn for making ribs lol. I'm not sure what to do or try on the BGE at this point and I sure don't want to ruin anymore ribs. I can't imagine they would have to cook for a few more hours on the egg that would be 8-9 hours whereas the Akorn only takes 3.5-4 hours. That doesn't make any sense to me when the BGE is suppose to be more efficient and hold in the heat better. Any thoughts ?

This brutha needs some help from THPers. I refuse to go to an egg forum for help. :)

I think I got this ...

Inside of the Akorn is black ...

Inside of the egg is off-white, right? ...

Food is further from the actual walls of the cooker ...

Probably getting less of the kinds of heat that actual cook ...

Air is a shitty conductor of heat ...

That's my guess.

It's a mindblowing experiment to split some cake batter between a pair of pans, one gold, and one black ...
