Bishop's Crown

I haven't tasted it yet. Planning on harvesting seed and tasting tomorrow.

Started Bhut, Bishop and Trinidad seeds Jan. 5. Thought I'd be nursing the Bhuts into October but go figure, Bishops and Scorpions are pulling up the rear.

Here are a few shots of my first ripe pod.

Given the biblical rain (just an expression!) this season I’m not sure any of my peppers taste true. That being said my Bhut killed me. Truth be told, I’m not sure why folks rave about the Scorpion? I can’t keep a Bhut in my mouth for no more than 5 seconds but can munch on a Scorpion? Must be bad growing conditions?

I’ll let you know how the Bishop tastes.

nice looking pods !

i baught the crown from the local farmers market aswell and found it not to be remotely hot at all.
however it did have a nice, pleasant taste.

id love them to be more hot, i ended up eating the whole one and it was about as much as a jalapeno if not less.

Bishops Crown are tasty little peppers. Nice and meaty, the sweetness of a ripe bell with just a hint of heat. Not near as hot as a Jalapeno. Make absolutely great poppers. One of my favorite mild peppers.

Thanks for the comments folks!

It's been a busy weekend shutting down the garden/yard for our long cold winter. I haven't tried the Crown yet... saving it for supper tomorrow. Good to hear it won't kill my taste buds heat wise... thawing a ridiculously priced organic free raange chicken to roast. Nice to know I'll be able to taste it :-))

Tomtomnz, let me/us know how they grow out. Mine weren't prolific pod wise but the pods put out were/are a decent size.

Great mild peppers but only maybe a medium production for me and usually a bit late, but they make great foo foo poppers:)

Potawie,

Good to hear I'm not the only one experiencing long harvest times for these. I started them with my Bhuts last winter. Bhuts are now done and these buggers are just starting to ripen.

orangehero, I'm now anticipating a nice apple taste. Anything less and I'm blaming you ;-))

They were also my slowest to harvest. The bulk of mine were picked in September. Seeds started in February. 65 pods off one plant so far. I may get a few more in November.
