condiment CaJohn's Trinidad Scorpion BBQ Sauce

Yes, it's sort of expensive, but it lasts forever. And it is perhaps the most interesting thing I've tasted... ever. The initial taste is a nice brown sugar sweetness, some "pulp" to roll over the taste buds... and then the heat begins. And it gets fairly hot... and it sustains. With just a half teaspoon of this sauce, you enjoy it for 20 minutes. I made some very basic tomato'ish turkey chili... and added about 5 tablespoons of this stuff. Heaven. This stuff is also excellent on chicken... breast meat or tenders. It packs a punch which will make your scalp sweat a bit. Is that bad?

How do you post a pic? I tried using the standard,

didn't work.

I just finished off my bottle, that I personally bought from John Hard. He's not especially effusive or gregarious, but was totally open to discussing the industry and techniques. For instance... those mega-nuclear pepper "extracts"... they don't use the scorpions and bhuts.... too expensive. They use cayennes. And then, using hexane, they can "refine" the product. That produces oleoresin and the hexane is boiled off. Very interesting... and not really something for me.

But, I digress. This Scorpion BBQ sauce has really impacted me like no other foodstuff. I feel that I must always have some available. Take a handful of popcorn... or almonds... pop them in and after a few chews, shake the bottle and dip the finger into that Scorpion sauce... taste... just brilliant... followed by a slap to the face (Scorpions). Probably the most interesting product that I've ever encountered.

I don't believe so Eggs.. they do their best to temper the peppers with sweet ingredients like brown sugar and honey, but that is only a 3-4 second "mask" of bliss before the product grabs your face and treats you non-politely.

I just opened my bottle tonight. I ate it on some chicken nuggets and then used it for dipping with some pretzels. Heat aside, this is a great bbq sauce. Very nice flavor.

About the heat, there is plenty of it. It's the kind that sneaks up and builds, then sustains. The rear-sides of my tongue is where I really feel it.

Now, combine the great flavor with the sneaky heat, and you might find yourself getting in a little over your head, LOL!!! I needed to take a little break.

All in all, I think it is really wonderful!
