Can anyone really be this stupid?

i'd say that someone somewhere at some point actually did this and it is now some sort of urban legend!!!!!!!!!!!

hell my buddy does it all the time................the best one so far has been a Kia 6 cyl., it went off with a big bang!!

Seriously he works for a local dealership and with Obamas Cash for Clunkers they have to destroy the cars by dumping a Government supplied chemical in the engine after draining the oil and then you run it at high RPM till catastropfic failure happens!!! LOL

I so want that job :hell:

since I'm not an employee there I can only watch as be sits in the car with pedal down kicking the rev limiter every now and then till the engine makes a loud squeal or sounds like a baby rattle on steroids....lol....some people have all the fun!!!!

It sounds like a troll. I use to be a member of a troll board where we would troll other boards, some innocently and funny others we got nasty. Tons of trolls out there, and it gets annoying, especially on yahoo answers.

Our lubetech here at work did a few of those. I almost cried when some jackass traded in a 98 Mustang GT and Dustin(our lube tech) blew it up out back. He almost cried too. It was a damn shame dumping a bag of sodium silicate solution(liquid glass, basically) into the 4.6 V8 and holding it at 2000 rpms til it go ker-thunk. That car was pretty decent too.

it sounds a lot different if you are actually driving at the time rather than sitting in neutral holding revs until it happens!!

The Kia was really good....blew the side of the block out bearing and all kinds of pieces flew!!! Usually they just sound like a box of marbles and then they quit running....

Simple answer: The US auto industry was failing, so in order to make people buy new cars, they had a programe where you HAD to destroy the old ones in order to get a big rebate.

Less old cars = more new ones = more $$ for them.

The Green peeps were all over it citing the old "gas guzzler" picture and CO2 emissions differences of the newer vehicles.

Bah, it's just all about lobbyists and money IMO.

Yeah but what they fail to remember is that making a new car releases butt loads more emissions than the actuall car could ever create!! Bwahahahaha

a bit like the scrappage deal in the uk, trade in a car older then 10yr old that you have owned for at least a year and get around 2 grand off the price of a new motor (and it must be brand new not a new used) it's all a con really as there are plenty of decent old cars out there, now the price of used motors is going up because there is a shortage all because people are scrapping decent motors to get a little bit knocked off a new motor (if you haggle you'd prob be able to get 2 grand knocked off easy)

never underestimate the stupidity of some people, that story might be fake but read some laws or warnings on products.....why are they there ? I'm pretty sure cuz there was someone that did that stupid act & for legal reason they needed to put it in writing to NOT do that

good to have the darwin awards ;)
