It's the first time I grow hot pepper
5 variety ( bhut , habanero, jalap, aji lemon , basket of fire ) got 4 to 8 plant of each variety
All of them looks fine and normal to me ( newbie)
But I have this " monsters" ( white bhut jolokia) that looks like he wants to conquer the word
it's not a lot bigger than my others
But it got a @&$@ load of flower bud at different stage
(I counted 19 flower bud on one node and 12 on the one right over it ( the rest of the plant is like 8 to 16 on each of the 15+ node )
All other W bhut jolokia are more like 3 to 8 flower bud on each node
Is that normal, should I remove some from each nod to help the plant ?
Or just be happy

Tks in advance for your opinions

Really new to this forum stuff , don't know how to upload photo sorry Any hint will be welcome and I'll post them
You can't have too much...The plant is smarter than us...it will only flower what it CAN - its our job to feed the soil so well that the plant throws more pods than you can imagine. Grow on!

Clone this plant! I bet that productiveness won't carry through seed. I've never seen buds like this.
Cloning is an awesome idea.

cloning could be amazing but cant keep anything inside for this winter

and everybody was right , he dropped a lot of flower in the last 10 days , it slowed down now
i dont know if its lack of food or just natural regulation becaus i gave a good dose of fertilizer 3 or 4 days ago and i barely fertilized before (realy weak solution of seaweed foliage 2x and watering 2x too (i concentrated on soils mix test for my first year of pepper growing 6 or 7 different soil mix ) )

anyways here a updated photo from my original post

ans the twins ( and he is not alone  i got like 5 or 6 in the plant)

Anyone care to take a guess as to what causes this? I certainly haven't seen anything like this before but it seems others have.

Taking clones would be interesting because it rules out genetics versus environment.

sorry for late update

most of the node lost 2 or 3 flowers exept for 2 or 3 node that stayed full (9 to 11 flower bud or pod)

Nice!

After I read your initial post, I found some of my NuMex Trick Or Treat plants had similar loads of blossoms, but they dropped most of them while they were still flowers or very tiny pods. Still got more than average pods from them...

Chile plants are weird

a little  and last update about this plant
here is what it looks like

i will try to OW it plus will try 2 clone as soon that i'm sure it got used to the light inside

take a look at THE WOUND  ( had 19 flower bud , 12 pod stayed until ripen)
ywuNYrk.jpg

i have around 40 seeds left from normal pod (iso)
40 seeds left from twins pod (iso)
and a bunch of (op) seeds from normal and twins pod
if ever someone is interested ( i'm open to trade )

if this baby or clone of it survive this winter you will be able to see them in my 2018 Glog

tks guys and happy growing

Thanks for sharing story of this plant. Hope it will your OW plans will work out and will follow up with it next year.

I'm not a botanist but I have been growing peppers since '95, have belonged to many forums and seen thousands of pix of pepper plants and while I've seen a few mutants with a lot of pods in one node I've never seen one that had almost 20 in one node. Add five double pods to the mix and you have a mutant IMO!

Again not a botanist but I believe it's just a one off mutant plant with unique genetics.

I believe this will be the telling tale and I also believe it will not resurface in the plants progeny from seed.

Start your preparation for the aphid infestation now as I believe it's not a matter of IF but WHEN. I hope I'm wrong but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
