CAPCOM'S "2015" WICKED BREW GLOG

Waiting patiently, for the wild thing seed train to arrive. Then maybe I can decide on a final grow list for this coming season. I had intended on cutting back from the 170+ varieties I grew last year but realized a new fear that I may be growing in the range of 300 this year, (if sanity continues to elude me). Whats new this year is the plunge into WILDS.  I am planning to grow close to 2 dozen wild varieties and over winter them. Also in the works are plans to set up a banker plant system to maintain a constant supply of Aphidius colemani and aphidius ervi. This is the equivalent to nuclear/biological warfare on aphids

This will be year 2 for the landrace xalapas and serranos. I am hoping that everything will continue to grow true and with an early start, produce a nice bountiful harvest and a good supply of seed  for next year.

Going to grow lots of nuclear stuff for powder and sauces.  Some will be container grown but much will have to go into the dirt. We cleared a lot of trees last fall and it is going to have a significant impact on this years growing season. And of course there will be the usual assortment of bacs, pubs, fruts. and annuums.

Looking forward to the new season always hold promise and this season is no different.

Thursday night update.
I took the night off of planting.
Actually, it rained yesterday and today so I wouldn't have gotten anything done anyway. But Monday I planted 53 and Tuesday the remaining 48. I would love to be able to say I am done, but I cant.
Tuesday I placed an order with Jim Duffy and should have 30 additional plants en route.

In case you are wondering what I have coming from Jim, here it is

280+ pepper plants.

The days immediately following my last two transplants 53 and 49 respectively, were hot and sunny. Not exactly your most favored weather patterns but windows none the less. the last 3 days have been wet and overcast, and the plants have responded very well. those that were ailing from the shock have come back and new growth on all the plants looks healthy. My soil un-ammended is a little on the high side for pH so I added a teaspoon of sulfur to each plants new home. I had to temporarily stake a few as one actually broke midway up. Immobilizing it thus far has seemed to work as no flow of essentials has been cut off from the canopy.

My last 30 peppers for this year?

These are going to have to go into containers and force fed. last time I had plants this size was in March.

Grow room is finally empty. With over cast skies and rain in the forecast for a few days, Jim Duffy's peppers went outside. I was able to turn them around and now feel all of them will make it. Only one still is leafless but should still recover.I will post picks of them before planting out.

The rest of the grow is coming along pretty good. now over 300 varieties. No, its coming along really good. Tons of buds, peppers and hope for an epic grow.
The first ripe pod this year was a small Apache chili. Warm sweet and my first fresh pod of the year.

Yes, I am fighting the weeds again. But winning this year.

This thing is ready to explode!
We just got some much needed rain today and the results will be noticeable within the next couple of days.
There have been a lot of pods forming even during drought conditions. This rain will have a huge impact on production.

When things dry out a bit I will get more individual plant pics

Jesus, going through your grow list trying to find something I can send you other than omni colors and the pickins are slim. You're growing just about everything lol.

I got one in a SFRB last year. It was very tasty and not over the top in heat so I decided to grow one myself this year. These , as do many other purple pod plants mature to red. Seeds may find there way into the train somewhere down the road. I may send one of these to Nigel as well.

What are those red pods next to the coffee mug?
giant cubanelle
Frost came on Friday and had to do a massive harvest. Unfortunately I was unable in my haste to tag all pods for future seed segregation. I did manage a week earlier to do just that though so its not a total loss. And the pods I got will still make some great powder. Going to grow a lot less peppers next year. More control over the grow and specific varieties in mind

Do you have any particular varieties that you will definitely be growing next year?
