Chacoense or Baccatum?

I ordered some plants from The Chilewoman a couple of years ago and while I wasn't impressed with her operation as a whole, she does have some very interesting peppers. One of the ones I liked was called Chaco Yellow and is listed as a _C chacoense_ .

"CHACO, YELLOW
Large, tall upright plant with bright yellow orange fruits. Succulent and fruity. Chacoense."

The fruit was described by my official chilehead taster as "I'm going to have to apologize to my toilet paper in the morning." He also said, between hiccups, that it had a nice fruity taste. Hotter than my comfortable tolerance, but still I used some in poppers and cooking, and they were good.

Well, life got a bit complicated around then, and I didn't get any seeds saved or plants ordered the next spring. I did this year, though, and I definitely plan to save seeds on this one.

However, while I was examining it, seeing if I had a good branch to sleeve, I got a good look at the flowers. Then I did a little more reaseach, and I can't find any _C chacoense_ that are yellow, much less with the round, thick-walled fruits I remember.
So, I'm questioning exactly what I've got.

The flower seems to scream Baccatum!!

But there are two buds at each node, and according to the The UK Chile-Head site, Baccatum's only have one flower/node.

So, I'm curious, what do y'all think?

*dryly* Gee, that would have never occurred to me.

The problem here is that the plant is sending mixed signals. To really throw a wrench in the works, _C flexuosum_ flowers have two at each node and the flowers look like this one. However, once again this is a largish fruit to be one of the wild-types.

I think there's a problem with the taxonomy - I have seen two flowers on sveral nodes on a baccatum variety named "Francos Aji" I am growing this year... Fruits are very large and heavy, about 1½-twice the size of a Jalapeño I would say...

That's good to know.

I keep meaning to take some pictures of the fruit on this thing and post it. I ordered three of this thing, and interestingly, the other two have only one flower at each node. The fruit is upright, narrow and pointy, and orange. It is absolutely not the plant I got from her that first time. Which really annoys me.

Yours looks like a really interesting plant. Have any ripened yet? What color are they and how do they taste?

Here it is.



Moderately hot, slightly fruity, but not nearly as good as a Criolla Sella or as sharp as a Lemon Drop.

There was no indication of substitution on the packing slip, so I don't know if this was an accidental cross pollination on her part, or mistaken labeling.
