Chinese Death Soup

If you read that whole article it says that restaurants might be substituting chemicals for the numbing qualities of the Sichuan pepper.

No doubt they cheaped it up by doing something dirty dirty to it... like maybe adding a dash of Drano.

You know, capsaicin doesn't normally burn a hole through anyone's stomach. It might bring to light an existing but yet-undiagnosed ulcer, but it only causes a sensation of burning instead of real burning. So yeah, I can totally see where they might have added Drano (or whatever) to that..... ew.
