Compmodder26's 2014 Grow Log - Supers ripening

So my 2012-2013 season has offically come to a close.  All of my plants are now composting with the exception of one plant.  I picked the final 3 pods off of my 7 Pot Brown this weekend.  Potted the mother down to a 3 gallon pot and gave her a haircut.  She's in her new home for the winter.  Crossing my fingers as this is my first time to try overwintering a plant.

I will be back on in a bit to post my grow list for 2014.

There won't be much activity on this glog until mid-late January.  That's when I'll be starting my Chinenses.

Stay tuned...

Looking good, I burned a few leaves as well but no biggie. All the ones with burned leaves have new growth so all is well. Your plants look very healthy, best of luck!

Thanks Chris!  I learned on my first year that burned leaves really isn't a big deal anyway.  They'll drop off and new growth will take their place.  One year, I think I might get brave enough and just throw my plants out in full sun, let the old leaves burn up and drop off, so new hardy leaves can just go ahead and grow in their place.  I say that to myself every year, but then I chicken out.

I did that a few years back and it was hard to look at but all the plants survived. My grow area is due south and gets sun 10+ hours a day.

Plants  continue to look just beautiful, Brian.
I'm looking forward to seeing them mature in the ground.

Hardening off looks like a science where you are at!
We have such variable weather here, it's almost futile trying to harden anything off
with the alternating cool and cloudy and warm, sunny (the minority so far) stretches.

I just have to depend on the plants to suck it up and adapt to the changing weather.
Looks like one more cool night (39-43˚F depending on forecast source) on Saturday,
then back to the high 40's and low 50's at night.  So, I'm forging ahead with plant out.

The long range forecast for June looks much better than the past three seasons, so
maybe we'll have a good start to the outdoor season here this year!

Thanks for the kind words Paul!  We've been very lucky this week to have pretty predictable and GREAT weather.  So I've had the benefit of being able to keep a schedule.  That all changes tomorrow because we're supposed to get rain, but I'm pretty happy with how far they are now.  I'm actually breaking schedule today and letting them stay out in the sun longer.  They aren't looking like they need a break, so I'm not giving them one! :)  They've now been receiving pretty constant full sun (get an occasional cloud passing by) since about 7:00 AM, and they don't look any worse for the wear.  At this rate, I may consider them fully hardened.

Sounds to me like you are there, Brian.
I figure if a plant can stand 6 - 8 hours of sun, then it's good to go   ;)
Of course, PNW sun may not be what it is in other parts of the country,
strength-wise, so that may not be a good rule of thumb elsewhere

I'm inclined to agree with you Paul.  They are still out in the sun right now and they look just fine.  If they can stay out for nearly 9 hours in mid-80 degree weather, I think they are fully hardened.  Wasn't planning on planting out this weekend, but I may have to consider it (of course not on Mother's Day :))

Looking great! That hardening off schedule looks excellent.  I always rush things and then have 2 weeks of plants recovering from shock.  They live, but I have to think they are set back each year.  I like your plan.

Thanks Andy!  The schedule worked out great.  Actually, they were completely hardened by last Thursday, so I'd say it exceeded my expectations.

Woohoo!! Got my babies in the dirt yesterday!   :woohoo:   Quite a bit sore this morning (yeah I'm way out of shape), but it feels good to get that done.

I need to put down some more RCW.  Either some blew away over the winter (I hadn't actually checked the plot since February), it already got broken down, or I just didn't put down as much as I thought.  You can see in the photos, that there is some bare spots.  It could also be mis-measurement too as I ran out of space on the right-most sub-bed.  I had to leave one White Bhut Jolokia out because I simply couldn't fit it.  Anyway,  with another top dressing of RCW, this baby should be finished.

Pic of the whole plot:

Right Most sub-plot (contains 4 Brown Moruga Scorpions, 1 Chocolate Moruga Scorpion, 3 Chocolate Habs, 2 Yellow Bhuts, and 2 White Bhuts)

Middle sub-plot (Contains 3 Monster Nagas, 3 Yellow Scotch Bonnets, 2 7 Pot Whites, 3 7 Pot Burgundy, 3 Giant Jalapenos)

Left-most sub-plot (Contains 3 Orchid/Bishop Hats, 3 Mariachi, 3 Huge Bell, 3 Sweet Banana, and 2 Jimmy Nardelos)

Plants look happy, they should take off soon!

Thanks Mikey!  I'm hoping so.  We're supposed to be getting lows in low 40's for 3 days straight starting Thursday, so I expect they will complain a little bit.  But hopefully after that, they'll start to shoot up.
