Compmodder26's 2014 Grow Log - Supers ripening

So my 2012-2013 season has offically come to a close.  All of my plants are now composting with the exception of one plant.  I picked the final 3 pods off of my 7 Pot Brown this weekend.  Potted the mother down to a 3 gallon pot and gave her a haircut.  She's in her new home for the winter.  Crossing my fingers as this is my first time to try overwintering a plant.

I will be back on in a bit to post my grow list for 2014.

There won't be much activity on this glog until mid-late January.  That's when I'll be starting my Chinenses.

Stay tuned...

Just measured my tallest Bishop's Hat and it is now right at 12 inches tall.  It grew 2 inches in 1 week.  I think that's pretty impressive considering I don't have the most powerful lights in that box.  Also that guy popped out of the soil less than 2 months ago.  Will be interesting to see how tall it gets.  It has just now begun to fork.  I'm guessing I'll probably have to stake it once I plant out.

Bishop's Crowns are one of my favorite plants to grow.  Mine got really tall as well.  They do ripen up later in my experience, as Jedi said, so I only got a couple of fresh pods from mine last year.  They make some of the best poppers ever though.

Your plants are looking great!

Thanks Andy!  I got some from Judy last year and she got me hooked on them.  I love them for poppers too!

I started hardening Mama Brown on Thursday.  I was very surprised that she didn't even skip a beat when I put her out.  She never showed any signs of stress.  She's done so well that I consider her 100% hardened off and I have now put her in her home for the season.  She's in a 15 gallon root pouch.  I'm hoping that she'll get quite large this year!

I'm thinking of buying a couple of those pouches. Never tried them before but I'm thinking about a couple OW's for next year. Thanks for sharing Brian. Hope your weekend is going well.

Hey, Brian, looking good.

Watch out for the Bishop's Crown - I grew one in 2012 that was at least 6' tall,
maybe 7' to the tallest branch tip.  Unfortunately, being baccatums the grow
season is so long I had the same issue as Sushi man.

Get some Chuck!  You won't be disappointed.

At the rate these are growing, I wouldn't be surprised if they get that tall.  They should be okay if they do though, as they are at the back of the plot and won't be at risk of blocking the rest of the plants from sun.  Thanks for stopping in Paul!

Just noticed these babies on two of my plants:

The yellow one is a Mariachi, and the green one is a Jalapeno.  Obviously I pinched them off because I still want them to get bigger and I want to have them planted out before they set pods.  But it's nice to know they are happy enough to do so!

Cool Brian. I'm going to give them a try. This year I'm trying the SIP containers, ground, traditional containers, and I now fabric pots. Trying to see what works for me in my climate and season. The indoor garden store loves it when they see me coming. LOL. Thanks again.

There's plenty of buds/blooms on all of the non-chinenses right now.  But they continue to grow nicely.  I don't pinch them unless they set a pod.  But after they go in the ground, I'm going to just let them do their thing.

And no, I'm going to just let them grow as they will this year.  No topping.

Hardening is going well thus far.  I've noticed a few very small burns on some leaves, but nothing bad and nothing that I would expect the leaves to fall off because of.  Here's the schedule I'm trying to keep:
