Computer Maintanance

Spent this morning cleaning/Vac my computers. Added 2x 4T drives to my workstation, replaced an old 250gb drive, waiting for sector scan to finish on the new drives before transferring files.
Wonder how many people actually clean their machines, will slow down if the heat sinks get dirty.
My new place is very dusty, dont know were its coming from, its winter and the furnace fan filter replaced three months ago.

Cleaning the power units out regularly helps them stay alive. Terabyte drives are a pain in the butt if you have to recover anything off of them, big as drives, should errors occur HAPPY DATA DAYS

Have one of those duplicating docks that recover crashed drives, its rare for me but has happened twice, once ten years ago and was nothing to do, but now that decrytor is available it was a big saver, had a drive die about a year ago, just plug it into the port with a new drive and it rebuild the drive on the new one, never store data on the prime drive and always use the Black server drives for the Prime.

Your computer looks worse than my media server in my dusty basement, lol. I have the same drive cloner, bought it to clone the hd in a brand new laptop to use a faster drive than what it came with. It's been used quite a few times since to salvage bad drives.

I used to clean regularly when I used rack or desk top boxes.  Been lap top only for maybe the last ten years.  Not sure why.  I dont ever take it anywhere.  I just blast out the vents with compressed air.

I have 15 computers at the moment, the active ones get cleaned every 2 weeks. redo all the heat sink compounds on CPU and video card once a month. A compressor is awesome for this task. I call those dust balls, ghost turds. Cheers! Happy Maintenance day.
