Computer Woes

Better start drinking heavily then....I'm having trouble figuring out how to open two windows at the same time with "spaces" on the new macbook so I can upoad pics from photobucket to THP.
TB FAIL TOO!

Cheers, TB.

I don't have a mac, but try minimizing the first window and clicking on the Explorer or Mozilla (or whatever icon) again.

Tried that. They have a doodad that you can open a big box that has up to four boxes in it. One for THP, which I have put in the first one, and three others. When I minimize and then go to Safari to open the browser, it brings back what I minimized instead of going to a new one...I'll finger it out but maybe not soon, especially once the brewhaha starts flowing tonight.

Cheers, TB.

The brew ha ha and shotszix will be flowing here in JayT land tonight. A couple of friends are taking me out tonight and making me stupid in honor of my day of birthing tomorrow. Should be a fiasco.

TB, I'm on a Mac. Try the File menue the click : New Window....

Or for that matter, just hold the apple button and press the "T" key. It should open up a new tab in the browser window for you that you can open up photobucket in. Makes it much easier to post pics cause you can just click tabs instead of opening new windows.

First thing, download mozilla firefox as your new browser. Safari isn't bad, but Firefox eats it for breakfast.

That's what I use (Mozilla) and it works great. TB also try drinking many shots of hooch as that should make it work faster.

Thanks Five. I'll try it in a bit...

Also be sure to pre soak the carpet in the car with beer to cover up the later to come barforama smell from all the shots and hoskies! Weed smoke also covers up the beer and barf smells when drinking on the road. Keep that in mind later....especially if the man is following you.

Cheers, TB.

Did you figure out how to open two windows/tabs yet TB? Hope so. Cause otherwise you won't be able to get stomped by the ole 5 stizars come mac'n'cheese throwdown time.

I'm only driving for the first stop. Once we get to the second and presumably last stop I have a DD. (the owner of the bar is a friend) Well, gents I am soon off. In the words of the great Doc Holiday: "I have not yet begun to defile myself."

Defiling oneself is an artform that takes many years of practice. i myself am something of a kung fu master of defilation...

Opera? You must mean OPRAH! That's alot of shite talkin' there Quad...and to think I was going to buy a rack of PBR in your honor. HAH...I will now buy a rack of Keystone Light and pour it in the neighbors dog dish...

RE: 2 browser tabs
Usually you can right click (or Apple-click) a link and choose 'open in new tab', or window, or in background. Control-T gets me a new tab.. might be some other button on Mac. I'm using Opera right now. YMMV with Mozilla etc.

I feel your pain though. I switched to an iBook back in 2001 and it was my first Mac. Takes a while. I just got me a new Asus netbook with *gasp* XP and I'm having reverse adaptation shock. It's taken me a week to get all my updates and virus checker and firewall and spyware stuff sorted. Then I find out I can't Ghost XP from HPFS, even after I figured the DOS from USB thing out. :(

Nah, he is trying to use spaces to put up multiple programs at once. I've never used it so I can't offer any help.

I'd just use tabs...

The whole browser thing though... while I prefer firefox cuz it's familiar and comfy to me, safari is actually faster and uses less resources then firefox. I've tested it extensively and yes, without addons running.

I used opera only once, didn't like it. But that was 2 or 3 years ago.

Anybody here using Google chrome browser? I love it, its much better then IE.

Im also Running windows 7 RC and thats brilliant too.
Just pre-ordered my real copy for a great promotional cost of £45

Windows 7 is pretty decent so far. I'm sure they'll eff it up before release :)

Chrome is OK. Renders javascript fast, but I still prefer firefox.

"Spaces"? Is that like where you can have, say, 4 desktops that you switch between? I've used that in Linux and Solaris but I didn't know the newer OSX could do it. Cool. Me want MacBook! I also want to win the lottery.

Opera kinda sucked when I first tried it. Then I put Opera Mini on my BlackBerry and it was way better than the default browser. After I figured out some of the features I decided to put it on my netbook too.

opera has a mac version too...

It is the best browser I have tried in recent years.. I go nuts when I have to use another and can't use mouse gestures. Being able to just gesture with the mouse to be able to go back , foward, minimize, close, or open a new tab is wicked..... other pluses. relatively tiny EXE file , loads fast and browses faster than IE or even firefox.( for me at least.) not as well know so it is targeted less than other browsers and has less security issues.
