D3monic's 2015 Glog. Lots of Pods.

I had a great 2014 growing year and can't wait to get started on 2015. Had some issues with overwinters and aphids but I ditched them and nuked the basement. Here is last years Glog link

I just went through and cataloged my current seed list. Built up a bit of a collection over the course of the winter.

Edited seed list to just a drop box file on 1/31/15 CLICK HERE FOR SEED LIST If you have anything on my wanted list feel free to give me a shout.

I will keep this first page updated as I add things to the grow. Many still to get germinated.

Going to be an awesome season for you mate, that Roxa could not be a healthier plant.

Thanks, they really are resilient. Even while all the other plants where showing deficiencies the Roxas looked completly  un-phased. It's an ideal candidate for some crosses.

Plants look awesome.  Hopefully this was the last really cold front for a while.  I need to break down and get an RO.  Do you strictly use RODI water?  Calmag every time?  I have great well water except for high ph.  I think it gives me a lot of lockout issues that lead to yellowing leaves.  I plan to make some type of F&D watering trough.  I spend way to much time bottom watering.

Your grow is really coming along, Michael!

Cool to see the little Datil make a comeback!
They make a hot powder!

I started out using just tap water but it's city water and sometimes the chlorine is so high it stinks. There's times I turn on the shower and have to kick on the vent because the fumes are stinging my eyes. I started using the RODI water that I store for my fish tanks. I randomly calmag, Usually on the days i'm not fertilizing. If your well water is decent you can probably get away with just a little PH down mixed in with your plant water. Not sure on the quality of water in Nobelville but in most IL and IN the well water i've seen is really high iron and sulfer. Stinks like rotten eggs. When I first moved up here I got sick as hell drinking well water out of someones hose.

In Nebraska well water is all limestone filtered and tastes better than city so I wasn't expecting that level of nasty.

Thanks, Just another month or so to go!

They look happy playing in the sun.  I hope to get mine outside sometime this weekend, we are finally supposed to see some 60 degree temps.

D3, in your opinion, if I use this

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BYG6TIG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Should I feed them every watering? If yes, full strength or diluted? My seedlings look pretty good, but from what I am reading, I may not be feeding them enough. Thanks.

Depends on what your media is, If its inert like promix i'd feed every other time. If it's a soil mix it's hard to say... i'd say like once every two waterings. Really a lot of variables. Fox farm is a good product. I'd follow what the bottle says for the most part Garden Tip: Allow new plantings a few days to settle in, then begin using at the rate of two teaspoons per gallon of water every other time you water. You can also use Grow Big® as a foliar feeding, applying to both sides of leaves, preferably early in the morning. At the first sign of flowering, switch to Big Bloom® Liquid Plant Food. For more ideas, check out our complete Feeding Schedules here.

Thanks. I have them in fox farms ocean forest mix. I have been feeding them every other watering, but not at full strength. I hear ya about so many variables. Usually I just buy the plants from my nursery, so I am a little green with how to treat them at this stage.

D3,

I just read your glog and I have a question regarding the pH adjustments. Did you use lime and calmag to bring the pH up? Have you checked the pH since you originally posted a pic of your pH meter reading? Also, what are your opinions of the particular model of pH reader you have?

For the seeds you are starting today, do you think you will get enough of a crop to make it worth it or are you planning on OW those?

Thanks very much! Things look awesome over there.

I should still get some pods off the one's i'm planting without need of overwintering. Just not many most likely. I didn't think of cal-mag effecting PH much. Most the pots i've checked are in the 6.5 range now. I don't check that often anymore that the plants are showing significant improvement. Lime was cheap and will last until well after I plant out so I just keep adding a tsp to each gallon of water I use. Especially since i'm using RODI water now and that's more acidic. I like the model PH probe I have. It was kinda expensive , I wouldn't buy one again but at the time I had plenty of money. Not as bad as some the $200 models but $70 just to test soil ph is up there a bit.

Hey dude, I just caught up with your glog, some really nice plants the Fidalga Roxa is a beaut, I've added it to next years list. I've also found that my roxa plants are the most resilliant, I overwatered and they were the only ones not crinkled. I'm also growing the cgn 2150xxx and that looked good too.
Good work with the lime juice! It looks like the plants are almost back to normal.

You will really like them, worth it for the foliage alone. Make nice decorator plants and I hear the pods aren't so bad either.

It's 70 here in Illinois today. I stapled some window screen to my pergola to shade the plants a little and brought them outside for some much needed warmth and sun. My basement rarely get's over 69 and my wireless temp probe next to the plants is showing 79.5f :)

They look rather dark green, I may cut back on the nitrogen a little bit.
