LDHS do you pick up a hot turkey samich with your hands?

Usually don't order the open faced sammiches.

LDHS - The rules specified that it could be a forker, as long as the main ingredients were between two pieces of "bread", so please don't deduct for that!

Just a personal preference Geeme. I'm not telling anyone else how to vote, and I'm not saying I'll call for anyone to be disqualified - no rules were broken, I agree.

Heck, build a 4' tall sammich. Totally within the rules. I just may not vote for it - just like some folks won't vote for a burger with pickles on it because they don't like pickles, or a steak sammich with horseradish on it because they don't like the brand of horseradish I used. Those are personal preferences too.

It's not a big deal, really.

But as I've seen THP mention in prior TD's, that would seem to be something for each chef to consider as part of their "risk/reward" strategy for creating a non-traditional sammich, no?

This is going to be the hardest vote yet. There are some spectacular creations.

Not sure yet if I'll deduct mental points for the ones that are physically impossible to eat as a sammich (e.g. "knife and forkers") - we all have out definition of a sandwich. Mine includes being able to pick it up and eat it without silverware.

But I will consider that decision between now and when the voting starts.

I wish I could vote for more than one - this is really a spectacular throwdown. So bummed I couldn't participate. Was up until 01:30 doing customs forms. :(

You're just pissed because there was no grilled pineapple.

Deduct points for having to use a fork? puhleeze. you want that, go to McDonalds, ya bastard.

I hear you can eat the whole McMuffin with three fingers while driving.

I am still undecided as to whether I'll use this as a criteria when voting, so everyone can relax. Sheesh.

Yer goddamn right! Where was the pineapple?!? Think people - if you want my vote, ya gots ta cater to my needs. Pineapple pancake sammich would have won this thing easily.

Mmmmmmm, McMuffins....the perfect hangover food right there. I don't eat fast food except in extremely rare occasions....the egg McMuffin when hungover is that occasion. :woohoo:

Not quite - I took an hour break & stopped by Drake's Brewery in San Leandro - traded 3 Lucky Dog shirts and some LDHS for 3 Drake's shirts & a 6-pack and a couple pints.

So "sober" is not the best description.
:woohoo:

I pm'd you in case you didn't look at the discussion thread again, and since the discussion is continuing here, I'll reply here (though I didn't see this until after I read and replied to your pm.) You are correct in that you are free to vote how you wish. And yes, personal preference IS a valid point - I think everyone knows how much I despise black pepper, and when I'm undecided, the presence or lack of BP definitely has a sway in my vote. People who don't like eggs typically don't vote for egg entries, etc. So personal preference is perfectly valid.

However, in this case, the rules specifically stated the definition of sandwich included forkers, and when voting, it is the norm (and not just here) that entries should be judged according to how they follow the rules. Disregarding a stated rule is outside of the norm. It's a free forum - vote how you wish - but it's not really fair to deduct when someone followed a stated rule. Note I'm not saying this just for myself - I'm not in this for the votes - but for everyone who followed the stated rules.

Taking a calculated risk in a TD is generally considered to be valid for something not stated in the rules, not for something that is stated.
