I think the straw does allot of good for this climate on insulation.
We have night temps at -1c for the next few days. Really praying the Blossoms dont get frozen again like last year.

You should be good to go for some nice fresh horseradish sauce this year. I painfully had to leave the horseradish and asparagus behind when I moved, at least I gained some fruit.

Potatoes finally coming up, was worried their.
Turmeric doing great
Lemon tree survived the winter and looking good, hope this the year it has fruit.
Key lime some more small ones coming.
Secret to growing Spinach here, always have it in the shade, always bolts here in the Sun so these guys have been in the shade the whole time.
And the Hops growing like a weed.
Some apple Blossoms still around, most are gone, hope to see fruit this year :)

When I lived in EU, I grew spinach in winter and spring, and New Zealand Spinach in summer. As plant, the latter is not even related to spinach, but it resembles its taste.

Cupid cherries starting to turn color as well as my Apples
Swiss Chard and Kale doing well, tomatoes should be ripening in a week.
Potatoes are now a nice forest.
Garlic the biggest Ive had so far.
The Salad Greens def need to be grown in the shade, first time nice and leafy instead of bolting. Orach the only one doing real well in the sun.
Hops growing like crazy, setting op string to spread the vines.
Alpine strawberry been producing tiny sweet berries already Mmmmmmm.
Peppers the only concern, only 2 months till Winter starts.
