Oh man, I am beat. After that round yesterday we walked around down town LA for 2 hours, today I played a round with a couple buddies at huntington beach. Shot pretty bad.+7 after 9, finished +6 still beat my buddies but was fun as help as we had not thrown together in 13 years. They had palyed but not me. I did throw my tern about 430' that felt god and got applaud from other players. Lol. Going to play morely tomorrow night and wed, then again on Sunday.

going to fort myers for my father in laws fund raiser in 2 months. looked at the 4 courses that are near him. going to play 2 of them that day, stoked about playing some new courses! double tournament starts tomorrow :woohoo: im stoked!

started today making my own course, this will take awhile so pics will be slim but already have a basket in the woods.

is your wednesday the double tournament?

i talked to the guy at the pro shop last night and he is not sure if they will get enough players for us to play doubles. he said the friday night doubles is the big one, only problem is that i work about an hour from the course and the doubles start at 5 and i get off at 4, and you have to get there to sign in! SHITTY! but what i cannot wait for is the WEst coast disc golf tourney at LA Mirada, we are playing the back 18 on sat and front 18 on Sunday. and will prob end up palying 2-3 rounds on SAt(only 1 tourney round) and 2-3 rounds Sunday(1 tourney round) i will be beat! so far 25 players in my division, hoping to beat 7h place

warm up singles event at my course this weekend for the big team event the following week. probably be 50 people or so this week. for the team event it will be 108 with about 20 guys rated over 1000.

well no doubles tonight but the course was PACKED! played with a guy who just turned pro. it was fun! shot -3, should have been -5 but i double bogied a hole i should havce pared! found out i can throw my ROC3 on lots of holes which really helped! cannot wait for my first PDGA even on the 23,24!

i'm playing better than i have in years... tied for first in pro masters yesterday but lost on the third playoff hole. probably shot roughly 990 golf.

OK,OK,I can't figure out what DISC. GOLF is compared to regular golf.

Does a birdey in DISC golf something like/or more like skeet shooting-try and hit flying seagulls or pigeons with your ball?
Maybe hit the bird brains that are hanging around the sand trap or water hole you are going to land your ball in?

WHO decides what PAR is?
A bunch of regular guys who meet each other on the Links by the water holes and sandtraps,or pros that average WAY higher because they don't play right(meet at the sandtraps or? and be sociable like everyone else.

Links-the chains around the parking lot that you have to climb over or under to retrieve your ball and trade insurance info with the guy whose car window you broke...

Playing Doubles?
Is that when you always play with a partner who is ideally a martial arts expert so if you hit some ones car or another person get a )bird brain birdie) with your ball you won't get your clubs broken over your head?

Why don't caddies carry a chain saw and or weed wacker ( possibly scuba equipment) to retrieve your ball or get obstructions out of the way so you can hit your ball into a sand trap or lake from the bushes/rough?
These things come in battery powered light versions these days...I'd think they could easily be put in a pocket on your golf bag and carried on a golf cart.
I see golf balls can be really expensive these days.Almost as much as fishing stuff but less than guns and ammo.

Why can't you do doughnuts (like race car drivers do when they win)around a hole with your golf cart if you make a hole in 1 or are a million strokes under par?

I understand DRIVING RANGE - A guy DRIVES around collecting balls and you try and hit the guy collecting the balls in the whatever it's called-ball collector that is driving around on the range(as in shooting range ...).

I understand the names of some of the golf coarse - whispering pines because everyone knows you aren't allowed to talk louder than a whisper on a golf coarse,so all the guys in the pines are whispering to each other while they look for their ball...

I heard they are trying to get rid of ball washers at some of the golf coarses.Too many people are falling off them and getting hurt.
Some ladies rights groups think there should be a bidet also...equal rights...

Is it true that golf was invented in Scotland during some war or another a long time ago?

I read that after a battle with whoever, there would be lots of headless bodies on the battlefield.

The bodies were easy to stack on a cart and haul into a common grave but loose heads would roll off the cart forcing soldiers to pick them up separately and carry them to the grave.
It was a hassle to do and VERY boring.
SO they ended up using a club/stick to hit the heads into the hole/grave rather than mess with carrying/picking up the heads.
Eventually it became a contest to see who could hit the most heads in the hole with the least amount of strokes/hits.
Thus golf was born.
In peace time heads were hard to come by so they made a ball to use.
Since it was more fun and less work to hit a small ball a longer distance than the original head sized ones they started playing a more similar game to todays golf game.

You can tell by the ends which ones were putters or drivers etc.

Hey Smoke, just do a goolge search for disc golf, my buddies and i call it "the greatest sport no one has ever heard of"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disc_golf
there are driving discs, fairway driving discs, mid range discs, and putters.
not sure how they figure out what is par, but its is all measured in feet not yards like ball golf.

My post was an attempt at humor.
I guess most people saw that or I'd be catching $hit.

I know a few golf addicts and was just having fun.

Golf to them is a very serious sport.
Just like fishing and shooting sports are to me-along with growing Chiles.

Only serious thing I was wondering is the disc golf thing.
Thanks for the link...

Never heard that term DISC Golf before, but when I've watched golf on TV it was to see the coarse, not watch the game.

Some really great shots of some pretty cool acreage is filmed all the time.Really cool shots of acreage.

Especially of some of the ocean front places along cliffs or forests.

I don't watch golf except when channel surfing and see some cool landscape.
Then I watch it for a couple min. because of the scenery.

Camera men must have radar or something when they can get a ball from tee to wherever it landed pictured the whole time.

I was going to ask about using a discus or frisbee for playing disk golf but figured I might be stretching things too far.
Especially after the ball washer part. LOL

Like I said,I know people who take their golf very seriously.

Hope a few duffers get a chuckle from my post.
Do they still use Duffer as a term for golfer? :)
Where did that term come from?
Just wondering...

PS.

OH no.
I just went to your link.
IT IS FRISBEE golf...

Pretty funny-my post about real golf with clubs...I don't mind laughing at myself.

So most of my post sucks as far as disk golf goes.

Too funny.I thought it was a post about a form of regular golf using different clubs or whatever.Like the Urban golf thing was popular in some places.
Then I saw a show on golfing in the winter in Alaska where you just tried to hit a ball from start to finish on ice flows etc.

Hit a ball off a building and follow it around town to play for the urban game and through the tundra for the other.

For one you don't need a ball washer for disc golf...or maybe you do. Might be the only hazard in disk golf. LOL

I'm going to be chuckling about this all night - I work from 5pm - 8am.

Still,I'm not the only one who misunderstood.

I see posts about breaking out the clubs-putters etc.
OR are skeet type tossers called putters in disk golf?

this is just how it goes sometimes!

none of us"there was four of us" have ever seen it before it was crazy.
got out and threw with my buddy! let me tell you it was humbling to watch him throw! 1 step and not 100% throwing ROC3's 350'+ but we wrked on my hyzer and anhyzer throws, really helped me get some more distance and accuracy! cannot wait for this week to end! i want to play this tourney! my buddy hooked me up with an all black McPRo 175g and a Proto Tern, and as a good gesture he ordered me 2 of the new champ teebirds in the new champion plastic! i really like the ROC3 plastic so i cannot wait to get them and throw them!

me and the wife only have cleared out vines and dead limbs for a couple hours. but here is my putting range im working on.
