vendor EBay Chile Seeds

I think it important to note that chile seeds sold on EBay pretty much always cause problems of some kind.

what grows is not as advertised,
no or low germination of seeds,
poor customer service,
crossed seeds and etc.
high prices

Most seeds are being sold by those who have no idea about growing chiles or are just con artists.
Find a reputable chile seed purveyor.

I'm one of those that bought a lot of seeds from ebay.

Mainly becuse a lot of sellers that you mention here don't want to ship their seeds to my country, so I'm forced to use other means. :(
Ebay is one of the easiest to find world wide shipping.

I bought some tomato and peppers seeds from a seller named nutsncones (UK) in spring, and the seeds were very good.
Germination was over 80%, tomatoes (San Marzano, Atkins) were great, also the peppers (especially Purple Jalapeno). The seeds were as advertised.

This month I bought a lot of seeds from ebay, now I'm kinda depressed, as I see that you think negatively about ebay seed sellers. All the seeds I bought came with very fast shipping, nicely packaged, we'll see in spring how good are they after I plant them.

I'm sorry to see that there is no more a vendor list posted here. I would like to see the info on the sellers I bought the seeds from. I bought the seeds friom this sellers:
ohioheirloomseeds
premier_seeds_direct
nutsncones
aprilshowers2010
1bluhavana

First two of them have a web shop also, and I found some positive feedback on web (not only on ebay) so it could turn out ok.
If someone has delt with them before, please give some info. I will update my info as soon as I see how the seeds turn out :)

Hi I got some seeds from premier-seeds-direct,they look like quality seeds but you never know, they have nearly 100000 feed back with 100% rating,

The proof will be in the pudding next year when I grow them.

Don't go by E-bay reputation. Most people give good rep for good looking seeds and shipping but don't comment months later when their seeds grow into something other than what was advertised. Most e-bayers are re-seller who know nothing or at least a lot less about peppers than chileheads on forums like THP

In the beginning before I knew of the "THP" forum I bought seeds from eBay and they always turned out to be true despite of all the horror stories out there. I no longer buy seeds from eBay mainly because I have more visible and prominent sources to shop from.

I believe the main scamming on ebay is on the newer rarer harder to find stains of peppers (most often the super hots)that bring the scammer the high return of cash. The everyday more common types or heirloom strains are more likely to be fine from there. Also when the seller has a real e shop with a full line of products it is a safer but not full proof then the seller that has only one product/seedstrain for sale. Good luck on your next season and out of curiosity what peppers did you order to grow?

Thanks for the info guys, will update what I've bought :)

Good luck on your next season and out of curiosity what peppers did you order to grow?

For now I've bought
BHUT JOLOKIA RED
HABANERO RED
SCOTCH BONNET RED
JALAPENO PURPLE
HABANERO MUSTARD
CAYENNE THICK
FATALII

Still looking for some good hot peppers, so if you know one, please recommend ;)

Currently looking into buying Habanero Chocolate :D

I too bought seeds from ebay and although they grew well, did not grow into what I had bought. However after an email to the vendor, he sent whole pods, seeds intact with little question (bhut jolokia, naga morich, devil's tongue). All he asked was that I send him a picture of what grew from the first seeds. After finding this site, I would probably not buy from ebay again but if I did it would be from him. pepperhouse66 was his name and he was very understanding. The problem with ebay comments, is that you can't post after a couple of months so by the time your peppers have grown (or not grown) and produced, it is way too late to comment. Most of the comments are about shipping and packaging.

I'm aware of that problem. I always try to look for sellers that are there for few years, and have more then 1000 transactions.

Now that I have found this forum, I will surely try to find some seeds here, and compare them to ones bought on ebay :)

Thanks for the warning comment! I purchased some seeds on ebay not long ago. I guess I will have to wait and see what I get! :( I think my next purchase of seeds will be from the hippy seed company

One of my only experiences with ebay was with live plants... and frankly the plants I received looked much better than mine even after being shipped. He obviously put a lot of care into his plants, providing adequate light and mechanical stimulation, and they produced true. I won't be shopping on ebay anymore for things I actually need, but in the interest of curiosity I'll buy couple plants from him next year (looking at you, Bhuts and Trinidad Scorpion) to see if his seed source is reliable and report my experiences.

It's not like all ebay sellers are bad, just the vast majority...

I did also purchase seeds of tomatoes, eggplants and chile peppers from premier_seeds_direct and I am pleased with them: fast delivery, more seeds than advertised, very good germination and more important - all varieties were true-to-type 90-100%, which is more than expected in big commercial seed supplier's batches.

Not all of us that sell seeds on EBay are bad people. The main thing to look for is someone who has actual pictures of their OWN peppers they grow. If the person has 20-50 listings for the same thing, they are a reseller or a scammer IMO. I only sell seeds from pods I grow, I also dont order seeds in bulk from another source and repackage them.

There are a couple sellers that have flooded the market with the same listing 10-20 times to try to monopolize the market. I find this a dispicable act and selling practice. Greedy? Yep. Honest? Nope!
