Fatalii...Anybody NOT a fan?

My primary producers this season were fatalii, and I still have 6 plants producing pods. Problem? I'm not a huge fan. Ive made several different things with them, and the only 2 I would reproduce are a mango/pinapple hot sauce and powder. BUT I like other powders a lot more.

A lot of people say it is close to their favorite pepper, if not their favorite. Just doesnt float my boat. Thoughts?

Different strokes for different folks AJ.  Great friend told me I'd absolutely love Datils and Clavo Reds.  Grew em both this year and the results were a resounding MEH!  Kinda like beers - some people like IPAs and some like Porters or Stouts.

I grew Fatalii and Devils Tongue, first year growing Devils Tongue and I have to admit I like the flavor of the DT much better.  Next Year I will grow Devils Tongue and Datil.  It will be my first time trying Datil so I hope it doesnt disappoint.

As others stated, taste is very subjective.  I like Fatalii, just grew other things I liked more.

Nope, I don't like them. My BIL loves the flavor, but I don't. Different strokes...

Grow more and find ones you do like. They're tons of varieties out there.

What are some peppers that you do like? Have you tried several different kinds of peppers? Do you like other C.Chinense?

The reason I ask is a lot of peppers share similar qualities with others, and it might help steer you towards some you like more.

I know a couple people that don't like any yellow C.Chinense varieties, but they like brown and red ones. I know a couple people that don't like any brown C.Chinense varieties, but like red and yellow ones. And I know some that don't like anything C.Chinense etc...

I like Fatalii, but I like 7 Pot Yellow and Yellow Scotch Bonnet more. I must say I was a bit disappointed the first time I tasted a Fatalii. Not because I didn't like it, but because of all the hype I was expecting more.

I agree. While I do love my Fatalii's, I can't dislike a pepper more than Clavo Red! Might as well chew broken glass. But for sure taste is very subjective. I dislike Aji Pineapple as well, but I love Aji Lemon.

Sometimes I think it is also just the way we grow them, or our individual environmental conditions to consider. My MOA Scotch Bonnets tasted like crap this year. Judy's MOA Scotch Bonnets that she sent me tasted absolutely amazing. They looked identical.

I don't like it so much either. It just didn't meet my expectations...
Gonna still grow it for sure, but will grow much more of others .... saaaaaaay .... Bonda ma Jacques and bunch of Lemon drops perhaps....

I'm planning on growing yellow fatalii next season. I never tasted fatalii before, but if they taste anything like habanero I will probably not like it. I'm not even sure if I'll be able to handle the heat anyway...

I don't care for fresh fataliis either.  I do grow one plant, though.  I dry and powder the pods and use them in a honey/ginger tea I like to drink in the winter.

I really don't like eating any pepper fresh that is hotter than a serrano. And most peppers in a sauce taste good to me and they are mixed with other ingredients and cooked. I really dislike the taste of a raw orange habanero yet it is one of my favorite sauces and the one most people want me to make for them. Go figure....................

Aji limon... Thought I would love them. Grew them. Meh. Not bad. But so many others I prefer. But glad I grew them and the plant put out tons of pods. Tried them many different ways. Fresh was the worst. Powdered was the best.

I like red savina and love scotch bonnets. I've had reaper/scorpion powder and bhut hot sauce. Loved both. . .Not too much other exposure to c. Chinense.

So far the reds and oranges seem to be my calling. I am growing a LOT of variety next season, so I guess I will have to take the consensus and keep trucking along my capsaicin trail:)

My name is Terravexti, and I'm not a fan of the Fatali. I don't really dislike them, I just dont love them. I was thinking to myself 'Self, Why does every pepperhead love fatali's?' I think early in the the pepper game (before the superhots), the fatali was one of the few hot yellow peppers availible. It's an old favorite for alot of people.

Same here. I grew Fatalii and Devil's Tongue together after hearing so much about Fatalii. I wasn't that fussed about them but I did really enjoy the Devil's Tongue which looked exactly the same. The plant didn't produce as many fruit though as Fatalii.

Yes, the Fatalii was a much better producer hands down compared to Devil's Tongue.
