Jesus Christ. What is wrong with people?

Pray for the families of these volunteer firefighters. What a horrific thing - getting shot while trying to help people/property. It's unthinkable.

Just be sure to tell everyone you know how much you love and appreciate them as often as you can. Today is a gift, tomorrow is not a guarantee.

I just called my mom, dad and brother.

Just wanted to throw that out there before the extreme left and right turn this into a political shitshow.

Yup. I know all too well how short life can be. We lost my sister in law in 2006 she was only 19.
Scott you are so very right. Tell your loved ones you love them daily.

I am not sure what peoples problems are but we have to learn to love again. Maybe the world is ending we are slowly just killing each other. Its horrible to think that now if we have a fire and we call the FD that our house may be their last call. What if the shooter also killed those that fled from their burning homes???

I truly am at a loss for words. Thoughts and prayers sent to NY.

prayers go out to the familys.
what the heck is people problems nowadays.........straight up its the person thats the problem not the method....I'll leave it as that!

I agree with you lucky dog, today & right now is a gift....tommorrow or next couple hours is not a guaantee.
thing you learn when you get older & should appreciate the right now.

oh my god i couldnt belive getting shot arriving on scene to a structure fire, trying to help people... we save and help people and they are shooting fire fighters what the hell! this is crazy

Remember in Our Prayers for this Holiday Season..

Monday, December 24, 2012: 4 West Webster FD Volunteer Firefighters responding to that house fire this morning were shot, with 2 being killed in the Line of Duty, leading to a shootout between a suspect and police in suburban Rochester. The shooter is now dead.

THE FIREFIGHTERS KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY ARE:
... Mike Chiapperini, Webster NY Police Lieutenant and PIO, who was off duty, serving as a WW Volunteer Firefighter. Mike had just returned from Long Island after being deployed for Super Storm Sandy.

Tomasz Kaczowka, a 9-1-1 Dispatcher who was off duty serving as a WW Volunteer Firefighter.

BOTH INJURED FIREFIGHTERS: Theodore Scardino and Joseph Hofsetter, are in guarded condition with very significant injuries. Hofsetter was an off duty City of Rochester Firefighter. Cops say that one or more shooters fired at the Firefighters when they arrived shortly after 0530 at the fire near the Lake Ontario shore, just east of Rochester, in the Town of Webster, West Webster Fire District. The first Webster police officer who arrived exchanged gunfire with a shooter, 2 of the Firefighters arrived on the first due apparatus and 2 arrived by car.

INITIALLY: The West Webster Fire District received a report of a car and house on fire on Lake Road, on a narrow peninsula where Irondequoit Bay meets Lake Ontario. The fire started in one home and spread to two others and a car.

This whole thing just sucks! We have too many sick-O’s running around. BTW my brother and nephew are both paramedics in the local fire department …

dude shot his granny and they looking for his 67 year old sister. this thing getting crazier.
Just read that he did prison time for using a hammer to bludgeon his grandmother to death. "Crazy" seems too mild a word. You know, all the gun arguments aside, we need to step back and look at how our society deals with those with mental health issues. God bless all those who have family members who have died, especially this time of year.

MERRY CHRISTMAS HERE TOO.

Here's more for you all to study...
