color Food coloring in a hot sauce

I am thinking about a hot sauce I would like to make that would be blue. I don't use them in regular cooking so I have no clue how they react to cooking and such. Will it be harmful to use?
 
What other ingredients are you thinking of?

I've tried to make blueberry hot sauces and they always seem fade to a sick gray color.

Food coloring is fine to use in foods, hence the name ;). If you can find it, they also have food color pastes which are a lot more concentrated than the regular supermarket food colorings.
