for you aussies

I thought you aussies would get a laugh out of this. this morning the local news had a little bit about a aussie with the local news going home for a visit & he brought back " veggiemite " for the local newscasters to try :hell:

well they tried it & lets say I thought it was pretty funny this morning while I watched it. I tried to get the weather mans forecast clip (big guy on the right) of today to show you also but couldnt find it. he was also saying some stuff about how bad it was during the forecast  he went right to the weather forecast after eating the veggiemite.

the whole ordeal (the bit & weather forecast) was funny I thought  & figured why not share it with ya.

The ladys response gave me a good laugh
I love Vegemite esp with lots of butter on toast in the morning. ("Veggie on Toast") Though I must admit when I was a young lad I much preferred Promite, its a bit sweeter. Its a pretty safe bet that if you were to open 90% of any Aussies fridge here in Australia youd find a jar of Vegemite looking back at you. Hey and "it puts a rose in every cheek"

thats what they said in the video, vegemite to aussies is much like peanut butter to us americans.
the weather guy (big guy) in the video he was saying it tasted like cat pee

What hazing did that guy go thru' at college to know what cat pee tastes like?

he set those TV guys up great!!

"is that too much?"

"No,no, that's fine"

The thing with vegiemite is to use it SPARINGLY!!

I've seen foriegners try vegiemite with a big glob on a teaspoon, never seen a person's face resemble a cat's bum faster.

yea I dont know how he'd know what cat pee tastes like, I think hes joking around but whatever the case is it doesnt sound like vegiemite is that great tasting from the video

use it sparingly ? I thought you aussies used the stuff like butter, jelly, peanut butter & just glob it on whatever.

anyone notice how big that rosemary plant was ? it was HUGE it must of been at least 5' tall & wide

Vegemite is like Marmite, you love it or hate it. We usually eat Marmite in the UK but you can buy Vegemite. I often think people also love or hate Turkish Delight, Marzipan, cold custard/rice pudding.

Man, I love rice pudding.

I grew up on that as a treat, especially with raisins and cinnamon sugar on top.

Mmmm.

CP - I guess you'd have to order it online.
I cant find the stuff where I live, but maybe thats for the better from the way some speak of it  but I'm still willing to try it.

Hey Canuk,

When I was living in Vancouver, the local supermarket used to stock it, so it is available, just have to look.

WTF???? $12.95??? Are they kidding? The only size smaller is the single serve portion that you find at the buffet of a cheap motel!

As a kid we had it after every Sunday roast. It didn't matter how full you were after your dinner, you could always fit it in. You've got to have cinnamon on top.

As for vegemite/marmite I love it with peanut butter. One supermarket sells Skippy's peanut butter. I prefer the crunchy one.

Vegemite, smegemite...cheese grits with a hearty dollop real cheese crowding the scrambled eggs on the plate is a real breakfast.
