Fresh green NM Sandia coming to SoCal

I just spoke to the produce manager at Albertsons, and her told me that the NM fresh green chiles (xx hot) will go on sale August 28th starting at 6 am. Price will be $32.95 per 30 lb. (about) sack, and that includes roasting. I'll be there for my usual 90 lbs., and I will have them roasted. It take too long to roast on my grill. Any questions, contact the produce manager.

WOW...if I lived anywhere near there I'd pick up a sack myself. That's a really good price for peppers! $1.10 a pound plus the free roasting! Nice!

They are running three weeks late with the harvest this year due to a cool spring induced late start and a stunting June heat wave. (Makes me feel better that I still don’t have pods on any of my 50 plants) The article below was on the front page of the business section this past weekend. It says there could be a decrease in production for the year but that the quality of the chile was not affected. Crops will start tricking in the first week of August then hit full stride around August 16. Soory about the huge image.. I had to upload from my phone without fixing it on the computer first.

You folks down there are very fortunate. Wish we had something like that....

PS- the only thing you could do to pour more salt in the wounds is to post pics of the roasting, etc. ;)
