My beautiful bug slayer was nearby. Just for luck.

So, seeds started today:
Yellow Devils tongue
Bhut orange Copenhagen
Carolina reaper
Reaper x bubblegum
Peach congo
Mako akokosrade
Chocolate bhut
red jays Ghost Scorpion.

Plenty more to follow, this Is just Chinense

Definitely un-like losing seedlings! Good news is that the Chimayo has a fairly short time to maturity... I think about 70-75 days. Are you sure it was damping off? The poly tent-like thing can really hold the heat in the sun, and potentially fry anything inside.

helthy looking seedlings part for at the base which was withered and hair like/brown. its damping off.

they are out of the tent now. lost maybe 8 seedlings now :(

Looks like the BOC and AJI Cito could croak, too. messed up badly this year

I have sowed new annum. any chinense i lose are damned. I already decided what i lose, its just vegetables or store bought seedlings replacing them. its a real shame and slightly embarrassing

Ouch... if you've got damping off, it's probably from the potting soil. I wouldn't buy from them again unless you sterilize before sowing/repotting. Shortsighted on their part... I doubt you'll buy from that company again and neither will anybody else that had your trouble. Do you think some peroxide solution might save the BOC and Aji Cito?

i don't think its the soil. putting them on a polytent on a sunny day did it i think. they basically steamed in there with no moving air. they were perfectly healthy beforehand, then suddenly fatalities.

i have some peroxide, yeah

Sorry to hear about the lost seedlings.  It happens to the best of us.  I agree with Rick; the number one thing to do is to start with sterile potting mix.

i always microwave soil. it was sterile. stupidly steamed them in a polytent (which i wont be using again). genuinely don't think it has anythng to do with soil. they would have rotted earlier if it were IMO

what concentration to use peroxide at?

This year has been terrible. Plants look like this mid April.

I don't wanna swear on this site, but you can imagine my frustration and what I might say.
Things are meant to get better each year, not worse. However, I learned so much this year.
If things don't pick up it's a store bought seedling year.

Lots of mint doing well, though. Black peppermint, pineapple mint, lemon mint, banana mint, grapefruit mint. I have spearmint and eau de cologne mint (don't bother with it, tastes foul) in hanging baskets.

Don't expect to do many chilli reviews this year on YouTube. Shame.
Oh and plants died off a lot. What I have left is a very small list, stunted too.
I have so many chillies left from last year and my wife can't eat spicy food right now. So luckily it's not the worst thing that could happen. Still depressing though.

Too bad about the peppers.  At least everything else is looking good.  And the peppers that remain look like they're getting ready to take off.

Don't feel alone G... it's been so cold down in my basement that my seedlings look pretty much like yours. I'm still gonna plant them outside though, 'cause I have faith that they'll perk up in the warmth and sun... whenever that happens... ;)

Been a bad year. Things are beginning to pick up, though.

Started off some compost tea, earlier.

Bonsai chillies are doing great

Planted some ginger today, which I've been keeping the rhizomes warm.

Got some medaka outside too.

The weather has been great recently. Plants will catch up, soon. It's my happy place to sit out here.

medaka are actually a very popular, tiny fish that are commonly and traditionally kept in containers outside. for decorative purposes. If you look very closely you might spot them.
Imagine having pet minnows.

I have ten of them in that container. i can see at least 4 in that pic, the rest hide under the plants (they are becoming increasingly tame though and don't duck n cover when i go outside.
The water plants are literally there for some shade/cover. its quite popular in Japan to have a ceramic tub (say ten litres roughly) and put medaka inside with plants. I might upgrade to a nicer container one day, they tend to be expensive though, so i have a cheap one, cause i wanted medaka.

I used to feed medaka to my axolotl

Slow progress but everything is right on the edge of that verge when they ramp up.

Best so far is aji habanero forking and growing fast.

National pickling is putting out cucumbers

I have a bunch of fruit on the pineapple ground cherry

Store bought jalapeño plant isn't shy about flowering
KIwA41E.jpg

Loads of cucumbers. On the left, Japanese cucumbers, nishigawa, f1 and v load. They are stunted cause I had the planters drainage hole facing uphill, so it got a bit waterlogged. Fixed now and they are perking up.
Right are national pickling and lemon cucumbers

Tomatoes need spacing out and staking. Doing well, though.
