seeds Germinating fresh seeds

I want to germinate some fresh seeds from by Bhut's.

Do I need to dry them first then put them to germinate or
can they be put immediately ?

Fresh ripe seeds are ready to grow now.
Not nessicerally (sorry for any spelling misspellings....it's late at nigt for me...). If it's from a fresh/undrided pod, than it needs to be dried before it is viable.

After it is dried (wait a week after drying to do this), soak the seeds in water for 16-24 hours before you plant them.

I like to cut the seeds out of a fresh pod & sit them on a paper towel for a week. Then into the seed-raising mix and out into the yard. 2 weeks later you'll see them pop up & say AAaaawwwww ain't they purty.

some seeds grow better if they 'think' that they've had a season between growing in a pod and being planted. it's sort of nature's way of stopping seeds trying to sprout in autumn/fall or winter and then dying because it's too cold - bottom heat encourages the seeds to sprout instead of them naturally waiting of the soil to warm up indicating spring has commenced. best to do as the other poster's have said and dry them a little though some seeds will sprout without doing this. confused?

I have never had a problem sprouting fresh seeds. I have done nagas, habs, cayenne, crazy thai, and all of them have come right out of the fresh pod. Usually a little over a week and boom, nearly 100% germination every time.

Carefully remove and
rinse with your mouth.
Put on medium
with chamomile tea,
and dress lightly.
Keep very warm and moist.
Some beer is ok.
Call me in one week.

You know, I'm not sure if you're talking about sex or peppers.

you will get quicker results with fresh seeds, dried seeds need to swell to germinate, but either way is fine.

well I dried some seeds for a week, then put them to germinate in cups of styrofoam

zero success, how long should I have dried them for ?

also do peppers which were stored in the refridgerator still have viable seeds ?

today is 1 week, dug up one of them and it has not shown any change at all
my original bhut seeds germinated in about a week under the exact conditions

Just keep them warm and moist. Some seeds take longer then others. Usually 10 days or so is average in my experiance.

Patience is a virtue, especially in gardening.

And some pepper seeds do take longer than others. I wouldn't start worrying until 21 days, especially if the temperature of the soil is under 70 F.

what i am saying is that the parent seeds came up in about a week in the same medium and located in the same exact place

I told you not to dry them. Just plant them.
You may also not be experiencing the same temperature patterns, since it's a different time of year.
I planted some newly harvested seeds the day I wrote how to do it. They are all big now.
I started them in the sun in 2 gallon pots.

Welcome to gardening, where just because it worked that way last time doesn't mean it will this time.
