Geonerd, the zombie thing is far out but how human beings act in crisis is not something a writer has to imagine. I think it was last season where they found a group of people who were cooking up other humans and masking it as bbq. I think it was in Germany that during a period of horrific poverty, starvation, and violence someone turned to making people sausage and selling it to folk. Power plays, people turning on each other, other folk making tremendous relationships... history is filled with examples on which the writers can draw.
Listen to some Man O War, the lyrics about how deep brotherhood would flow between Vikings. The lyricist doesnt need to know what Viking battle was like. Lots of examples of how hardship furthers the bonds between people who rely on each other. Frankly, I think it is great observation of why families and marriages fail so often today. In the world around me, I see the message that a person should be independent all around me. Very little of the joys of partnership and the you and me against the world ideology.
Good fiction lets us ponder these issues much the way the mythology of antiquity does.
KingChile, I have adored watching the Glen character since he was first on the radio talking to Rick in the tank: Hey asshole. Ye you in the tank. It is when I realized Rick was a complete idiot. Not saying I know how to drive a tank or if there was any fuel in the thing, but I am thinking I would have given it a try and just sort of squished the damn zombies.
Ronaldo, damn you and the bastards that killed Kenny.
