I think I'll make some this wknd ...

I think I should make some of this, sounds like it would make a great marinade and salad dressing too.

When working w/ little dried shrimp, anchovies, and sardines for making trans-pacific soup for dieting, this is my song of choice ...
UUuuuuuuumami ... Uu, Uu ... Uu, Uu .... UUuuuuuuumami .... Uu, Uu ... Uu, Uu ....

Just sayin' ...

Number one priority this week - low-calorie, flavorful soup.

Better late than never ... or stroked out, or dead, if you will.

In other news ...

I'm super excited about a gadget ... go figure ...

I found the thing I've been missing in my life, that's been in the way of making the kind of food I'm most interested in ...

the julienne peeler.

don't get me wrong - i f**king tried hard ... i bought a mandolin a while back, i bought a benriner mandolin later (adds julienne style sectioning posts), and a spiralizer or whatever ... but nothing was right ..

it's the GD julieene peeler that's been missing in my life - and what unlocks my sushi-making capability, as well as the quick pickled sides for Asian dishes ...

i'm stupidly excited.

thx to BigB, filmost, and D3 - i'm finally out of port ...

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1433294368.419823.jpg

that's a little better ...

May be lower cal but you are packing the flavour in there. Very nice indeed

So what exactly is that and why do I suddenly need one?

julienne peeler! the tool i was missing for the past years, and didn't know existed ...

Nice, I use the one on my mandolin but that does look handy!

that fine of spacing? ... it makes the little perfect little "sticks" for rolling sushi =)

the story of this is such that:

1) grant buys mandolin that's rated well ... comes without the little division posts/blades to make the cuts while slicing ...
2) grant buys benriner mandolin with little posts and blades ...
3) grant buys spiral slicer ...

grant doesn't use 1, 2, or 3 ... so, typical grant ...

then one day grant learns of julienne slicer, and for a 1/4 of what he's already spent trying to find the solution, has it in-hand ...

so many thing go this way ...

julienne slicer ftw =)
