Going Hippy

I done did it.

Traded my '09 F150 in on a new 2014 Suburu Forester.

It was mrs. blues that inspired me to get a more practical vehicle gear to haul around my gear.

I've looked at just about every vehicle out there for what I required and for the money I wanted to spend and chose the Forester.

As you can clearly see in the pic, its not a vehicle mrs. blues would choose to have for herself.

She tolerates me parking it next to her SRX.

I reckon I've gone almost full hippy with this ride.

All thanks n' kisses to mrs. blues.

Yeah, You have GOT to Texify that thang!

Longhorns on the hood?

A gun-rack behind the head-rests?

A dixie flag on each of two 20 foot CB antennas?

Big 'ol honkin mud tires?

My family has always been die hard Ford owners. Several on my mothers side worked for Ford in Ypsilanti and Willow Run outside Detroit. My dears sweet ma was the one who planted the bug in me a couple years ago when she had her Forester and then later an Outback. The Forester was a no brainer.

Hmmmm, I guess I wouldn't qualify as a hippy then in my F-250 diesel. That's okay, I didn't really want to be a hippy anyway.

On a related note, something very disturbing happened to me earlier today. I was driving down the street in the big azz two-fitty  when one of those piece of crap hippy smart cars pulls out in front of me going way too slow. As my blood started to boil at how slow we were driving we came up to a red light and I got a good look at the bumper stickers. (2) big NRA stickers. I'm thinking FTW???!!!!!??? Aren't smart cars and the NRA diametrically opposed? What kind of twisted individual does both? I've never even heard of a self respecting NRA member owning a smart car. He must have so much inner turmoil.

That has been bothering me all afternoon .

Subies are great vehicles. You can beat the piss outa them, and they keep taking it. Our last one had 300k on it when we sold it 4 years ago. I still see it on the road every so often. Damn thing must be on it's second trip to the moon by now.

Funny 'thang.

I was conversing with the sales dude Brandon and jokingly mentioned that I was going all hippy n' sheeit with this car and he said and I quote...

"Yeah, the Forester and Outback definitely have that vibe and quite honestly have seen a lot of hippy and gay/lesbian folks that go for these cars in the past but now its every body from college kids to yuppy folks to grandma's".

In fact while we were there processing the paperwork, I saw a mix of a dozen Outbacks, Foresters and Impreza's sold to just regular folks like ourselves.

And I'll tell y'all right now I couldn't be happier with the dealer.

Sewell Suburu Dallas right next to Love Field.

Sewell also did the deal with mrs. blues Caddy SRX in Grapevine.

mrs. blues and I both agree.

Sewell is CHINGON!

The Ford dealer in Frisco/Plano on the other hand, they get the finger.

But that's another story.

I should also mention.

I got 31.8 mpg right off the lot city bringing it home.

Best I ever got in my F150 was 22.9 hwy and  20.4 city, which ain't bad for a truck.

My wife wants a Ford Edge but we aren't paying $30k for any vehicle. lol

I looked very hard at the Ford Edge and yes, its on the pricey side for what it is. Several 'thangs bothered me about it. There have been many complaints on the interwebz about tranny issue's. Noisy. Grindy. Trips to the dealer for service. Another huge issue is the infotainment system which is all touch screen for everything from the stereo to the heat and a/c. mrs. blues has the same system in her Caddy SRX. It's glitchy and blue tooth often disconnects for unexplained reasons and just figuring the damn thing out enough to turn anything on or off is a dadgum nightmare. I hate that system and while mrs. blues won't come out and admit that she dislikes it, she sure does spend a lot of time screamin' and cussin' at it while drivin'. The Suby has actual real pots and buttons to push. Advantage Suburu.
