Got a Puppy Yesterday (Pics)!

She's a yellow (very light colored) lab about 7 weeks old. Got to meet her parents and some of the other pups on a farm. This is my first dog since childhood. My kids are 6 and 9, so it was about time. So far she's been a sweetheart and shown no interest in the pepper plants - hopefully it stays that way!

Best wishes with your new member of the family.  Labs were created to be with kids.
That sweetheart of a golden girl will be too busy bonding with the kids to care about digging.

she will be a great companion/protector of your kids for years to come...the issue will be when the kid's leave home...which one will she go with...(assuming you are going to let her choose which family member she bonds with the most)

Thanks everyone! I'm sure losing a few hours of sleep now is a small price to pay.

grats! on the pup, bet the kids very excited, what did you guys name her?

Right now her name is Laika (we pronounce it "Lake-uh") but we haven't made it final. It seems to be sticking.

A Lab was my first! She is amazing! I like Laika!

PMD isn't it just American Bull terrier or really a Stafordshire Terrier? Isn't the pit from when you suck and fight it? Respect the breed!

Not sure what you mean buddy as APBT means American Pit Bull Terrier and yes they were once the same breed as the Staffs until the snobby English and their standards eliminated a certain look.
That's the to the point answer. ;)

Got ya. I am just of the understanding that the real breads don't have "pit" in the name. From what I know the "pit" originated from pit fights. I understand that people regularly call them pits as that is what most people know and its just easier. I love all of the Bull Terriers, mostly English. They are great dogs and I just think calling it a pit bull is pretty ghetto and keeps them in the rut they have been in in the public eye.
They are great dogs and I can understand why thats your breed. Im an English Bulldog guy so i get it!

I just looked it up and did not know the aka now recognizes the pit in the name... did not know that...

Back on topic, cutest little Lab pup! Best of luck keeping up with the energy!
