   love using rice hulls when I have them. I use them sometimes in my mash tun for certain grain brews, and really have loved using them in my seedling mixes. No helmet heads ever when using them, light airy mix, all is well.

Another bennie for rice hulls is that they release soluble silicon as they rot down. Plants need silicon to grow strong and reduce the effects of disease and pests, and together with molybdenum help make them more drought tolerant as well.

The seeds came through just fine Guru, thanks! I'll get them in to soak when I get back from work tonight.

What would be fair is if you started say in April on a 0.5x weigh in handicap.

This will probably end up being my entry plant. First set of leaves caught some scald being 6-8 inches from lights. Moved to about 12" and it's doing better

Can't get a proper measure on that, but Walchit clearly in the lead now with leaf to leaf of at least 350mm.

Just potted up my best looking plant. Still have a couple in backup in case I accidently murder my favorite.
I'm quite happy with the results so far, but as I'm slowly running out of space, the growing conditions might worsen a bit.
