I was just wondering what other growers were experiencing weather wise, is it hotter, colder, wetter dryer than normal. Over here in the west we have had a hot summer but thats not that unusual we normally have it pretty hot, I know the media keep beating on about hottest on record but since records have only been going for 100 odd years that means diddly squat. I can remember nearly 40 years ago it was pretty bloody hot here in WA and it wasnt unusual then to have no rain for 100+ days.

Here in Kansas 5/6 zone we're just inbetween winter and spring. Currently rain yesterday and rain today. The floods might be comming in early. God knows the fall garlic I planted came up early. It's up for debate here if winter is over. I'm counting on the 13th of this month as a good potting day for my first wave of tomato and pepper seedlings. The house is looking like a tropical jungle and my yard is looking like a pond.
Well, last year we set a snow record and this year we had (I think) our second coldest week on record. That's the usual here in North Texas though! If it's a symbol on the weathermans board, we will get it =) Its been dry so we will probably get three feet of rain in July and august.....

Just got about 5 inches of snow here in central Pennsylvania the other day. They're talking about heavy rains for the rest of the week so I'm sure we'll see some flooding. We're up on a hill, so I'm not worried about us but we have relatives that live by creeks and the Juniata River.

I agree, im in North Texas myself, and at the moment im expecting it to snow in April. So im waiting till halfway thru then to put anything permanently outside lol. Temps have been alittle too nice lately,so we prob will have some kinda mid summer blizzard lol.
Here in the Pacific Northwest of the USA, we've been influenced by a La Nina pattern for a couple of years. This usually means milder winter around these parts. Last year, though, the really cool weather persisted thru May in Idaho which made for really poor pepper growing--about a month later than usual. This year is setting up the same--a really dry February, but now the mountains above town are getting great snow in March and the skiing is fabulous...

the greens and other envirowhackos want us to beleive the climate is changed because

No matter what you believe, you can't deny the fact that pollution is a big problem all over the world and it's in our best interest to limit it as much as we can.
Record snowfall here in MN this winter and plenty cold. In a few months it will be sweltering hot and humid which also sucks. My pepper plants sure seem to like it though. Bring on the heat wave!

No, not what I'm saying at all. I'm not even saying I believe global warming is happening or that it's a result of humans in general. Are you saying that pollution has no impact on anything?
Now that you bring up fish, why do you think they have those advisories about how much fish (if any) you should consume from certain bodies of water? Why are pregnant women supposed to eat even less? I suppose the gulf coast is perfectly fine and it's just the envirowhackos that are making a big deal about it?

Spring was ok for me, higher than average bug count.
Summer was a total write-off, hot, dry, very very wet, dry again, all over the shop. No pods at all over Summer
Coming into Autumn, things are a lot better getting some good poddage happening but the plants are still clearly recovering from Summer.

so the weather seems to be normal, at least as best as my observances are

We have six of the top ten deadliest snakes, only two or three of the deadliest spiders, and the crocs are only a worry if you go swimming with them.
Now the Drop Bears, that's another story
The problem is that given any amount of data, anyone can find information that fits the story they want to push. Which is why global warming activists and scientists, and those fighting the global warming activists, can have two different extreme views, using the same data.
Taking any political angle out of it, the Earth as a whole seems to be getting more average weather (warmer Winters, cooler Summers) but also more extreme weather (colder snaps and heavier snowfalls, hotter heatwaves and droughts).
Locally, you might see the opposite, but local weather only applies to the local area. And you might see different to somewhere only one-hours drive away.
