Hello ALL. I have been lurking here for a few months figure I would introduce myself, maybe try to get to know
some others here. I officially came back from retirement this year so to speak. I used to grow habaneros and
other hot peppers back in the early 2000s, before all the superhots even existed. Back then the Red Savina was
still the hottest there was. Moved to a new house in 2006, lost my old basement where I started the seeds, lost
the 3 foot thick insanely good topsoil, etc. I kind of just gave up for several years, did plant a few store
bought peppers during that time but never did very well in the clay. Finally found a few promising locations in
the yard over the last 2 years so decided I would just start a few seeds of Chocolate Habanero this year since, I
cannot find them locally. Once I got back into looking at seeds again and realized there is hundreds, maybe
thousands of varieties available now that did not even exit last time I started peppers, well the 10 Chocolate
habanero plan, turned into plans to put about 90 peppers in the ground. I ended up starting 58 varieties. Just
made a trade with another guy in the are for 10 more.
After what looked like a slow start, most of my peppers have taken off really well and look good. With 2 - 3
weeks before I can safely plant, almost worried they will outgrow the room I have inside for them. Most are 4 -
6" tall now and growing very fast now that they are mostly in 3" or bigger pots.
That pretty wordy for me, but figured I would share my back in the game story so far. Hope to meet some others
on here. If anyone else near Peoria, would be nice to have contact, for future seed/plant/pod trades. I already
met one guy on here that we hooked up and traded about 10 varieties each did not have started.
Heres the list as it is now. I hope it does not get any bigger.
