Hi all,

I have been growing peppers for several years in the Netherlands. Most are grown in the open field on my allotment, but some are overwintered at home. My main interest in peppers is in breeding, I like the diversity and possibilities of capsicum. I have a master in Plant Breeding and finalizing a PhD in plant genetics (strawberries). Don't expect me to answer all your breeding questions however, I Will Not reveal all the tricks of the trade.. My job is in strawberry breeding, peppers are more of a hobby. I have a Large variety of material, most of my breeding focuses on more conventional peppers and Not really on the superhots, flavor and cold climate adaptation are of importance. I Will try to add Some pictures.

Glad to have you!  You'll find that THP is a great resource for you.  I also have interest in crossbreeds of milder peppers but it seems that so many people are interested in superhots that it's hard to find interesting ones.  Best of luck!

EDIT: how do you breed strawberries though? Cross pollinate flowers and then once the strawberry is ripe, try to grow them from seed?
 
Yes runescape, simply cross pollinate and grow from seeds. But there is quite Some difference in how to make a variety, strawberry is an outbreeder and vegetatively propagated. No stable lines are needed. Variaties are generally made through screening Many thousands of seedlings from several crossers and tracking their performance over several years.

Do you mainly focus on "flavor and cold climate adaptation"?
 
How do you guys measure the flavor (by measuring how much sugars are in the strawberries?)...

I lived in your fine country for 2 years - Just south of Alsmeer in Nieuwveen, then Zevenhoven for a while. I really enjoyed it there.
