Hello Pepper World from New York

hi everybody! i'm new to the world of hot peppers, and i hope to learn a lot here. can anyone point me to a good website or book with all the basics on hot peppers? i think it would help me understand the lingo and prevent me from asking too many redundant questions.

I learned everything about peppers right here. Poke around the various categories and read any posts that catch your attention. There is tons of information here.

Took me over a month of digging and reading to feel like I was up to speed on what I wanted to know. Then I wanted to know more and more. If you want to know about it, it is most likely posted about already. Just don't be offended if someone links in your post to another with the answer you are looking for.

Hello from the UK! I hope this isn't deemed advertising but my chilli bible is 'The complete Chilli Pepper book' by Dave Dewitt and Paul Bosland. Im pretty new to this site and i've had a couple of genius answers to my questions already. Enjoy :cool:

:welcome: from Massachusetts! I would recommend the Chile Pepper Encyclopedia, good beginner book. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions, everyone here is pretty amazing and overly helpful. There is a TON of useful info on this forum.
 
I second what Adam said. Dewitt & Bosland's book is about the most comprehensive I have read. You can glean the same information here, though, for free. Just make sure you pay attention to the writer's post count and/or their years of experience growing chiles. Some claim to be experts but aren't. Some don't post much, but are experts and should be listened to. The hard part is figuring out which is which :lol:

:welcome: from North Texas! You will find many nice folks around here. Read and ask away, have a blast. Cook some burgers and steaks and post them. Start from December of last year in the growing section and read through this season, then ask some more questions. You'll be caught up in no time! Then grill some more steaks.
