Hello

Hi all, Im somewhat new to chili growing. Ive been a fan of hot food for years and over the past 12 months thought Id dabble in growing my own chili - partly because my local shops dont sell hot chili and partly because any left over chilies I have I can throw in my ground bait when I go fishing - for some reason the fish seem to love chili too :P

I started off with a (Thai???) Birdseye plant which I bought at a garden center, and they give off a fair bit of heat. Not content with that I bought seeds - Red Savina, White Habanero, Zaino (no idea what they are, they just looked cool) and I had a packet of Ring'of Fire thrown in for free.

The Zaino and Ring'of Fire have been growing like weeds whilst the Red Savina and White Habanero have been far slower growing; probably due to the low levels of natural light this time of year - all seeds I grew on my mothers propagator around 26 degrees C.

Out of curiosity Ill throw this one out there - when my Red Savina's started coming through they were very slow growing, the first set of proper leaves it had started to go grey and wither around the edge of the leaf. The leaves never got very big, it didnt look or feel like mold. The grey area around the leaf just felt dry and dead to the touch; Im assuming this was because the seeds were grown in a high humidity?

Welcome from Fort Worth, Texas

Hello from the wet Washingtonian Pacific Northwest. I attempted to grow a couple of Habanero plants last year and they grew really slow. The plants never got too big, but they made a bunch of flowers that never fruited. At the end of the season, I got one yellow and one green Habanero the size of large peas! Then dear ate the tops off my plants! Looks like dear love chilis too :)
